Mini File Folder Treat Holder Tutorial

Yesterday I shared with you the card that we made during my Sale-a-bration Saturday event and today as promised I’ll be sharing with you the little treat that everyone received.

Starburst Sayings Mini File Folder Treat Holder

When I saw this idea I just knew I wanted to make my own treats – and as you know I love to make treats for family and friends.

And since these cute little Mini File Folder Treat Holders are a lot fun to make I couldn’t resist giving them to my attendees this past Saturday.

I created these little Mini File Folder Treats using the Starburst Bundle (134817/134818) from the Occasions Catalog (on page 34). Our bundles are great since when you purchase both the stamp set and coordinating item such as a punch or Framelits together you’ll get a 15% discount!

Want to see how I made these little Mini File Folder Treat Holders? Click on the video below.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Starburst Sayings (133182/133185)

Inks: Real Red (126949)

Paper: Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (132996), Real Red Card Stock (102482

Accessories: Envelope Punch Board (133774), Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334), Starburst Framelits (132967), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889), Crumb Cake ½” Seam Binding (122323), and Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

On a personal note, if you don’t live locally you may not know that we are gearing  up for some severe winter weather. If you live locally, you know exactly what that means here in North Georgia – and it gets kind of crazy.

So I though I would share what we woke up to this morning.

This first one is of our yard – you can see the tire tracks from my son’s four wheeler. He told his dad he was just running to get his coat! My husband that that this was the long way around running down stairs to get his coat – LOL

So this was 7 a.m. this morning.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (3)

Here is a photo of Chewie, our eldest four legged child. She is on her “perch” watching the snow fall and all those pesky birds again – I’m sure you can hear her again in today’s video. Oh well, I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that when I video the next time – LOL.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (1)

And here is the view just a few minutes ago of our oak tree next to the house. As you can see the snow is really starting to pile up on those branches, and for those of us who live in the south you know what kind of trouble that can mean. Especially for all those pine trees along our power lines. This mornings prediction was up to 6 or 7 inches in my area, but the biggest problem isn’t the snow – right now were still above freezing and you can hear the gutters running. Our biggest worry is the ice that is suppose to follow this tomorrow.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (2)

So that being said – I do plan on posting, however depending on my power and internet situation which is already giving me fits …….. well, you get the idea.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm in their homes this go round. And for those wonderful DOT and public safety jobs who have to be out – I’ll be saying a little prayer for you. My husband is one of those that’s on call 24/7 so I’m hoping that there’s very little need for them this time.

Starburst Sayings

This weekend I held my Sale-a-bration Saturday event and so today I thought I’d share the project that everyone who was able to attend made. The card uses the Starburst Sayings Bundle (134817/134818) from the Occasions Catalog (found on page 34).

Starburst Sayings Leadership Swap 2014

This card was one that I enjoyed making during my Leadership Shoebox swap and I just knew my group would too.

The card has such a great combination of textures because of the different products it uses. One of my favorites items that was used is the Core’dinations Card stock which was embossed with one of our exclusive Sale-a-bration items – the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. This folder is a great addition to any collection, after all who doesn’t love polka dots? And this is a wonderfully whimsically collection of dots!

Core’dintions Cardstock is so cool because you can do so many different things with it. Use it just like it is and see the wonderful linen design like we did with the Real Red piece or emboss and sand it like we did with the piece of Pool Party to let the core color shine through. Or tear it and really show the core color off to add texture – how many different ways can you think of?

Can you see the Watercolor Washi Tape? It’s under the scrumptious Gold Baker’s Twine – adding just the right bit of color.

Here is a picture of some of the gang stamping.

Saleabration Saturday group

I always love to see the different ways that they take the same pieces and come up with different designs.

Stop by tomorrow when I’ll be sharing the little goodie I gave everyone who attended.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Starburst Sayings (133182/133185)

Inks: Real Red (126949)

Paper: Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (132996), Brights Core’dinations (129953), and Subtles Core’dinations (129954),  Pool Party (122924), and Whisper White (100730)

Hello, Lovely

Today’s card is one that I made in my Leadership Shoebox Swap last month and it uses the Hello, Lovely stamp set from the 2013 Catalog (page 22). I thought Janeen Mack created such a cool card and it was a lot of fun making it’s focal point – a low profile shaker.

Hello, Lovely Leadership Swap 2014 Low Profile Shaker Frame

This card was fairly simple to make, although it does have a lot of parts to it.

It starts with a Coastal Cabana card base and a layer of Chocolate Chip card stock that has been embossed with the Stripes Embossing folder. On top of that is the low profile shaker filled with some small hearts punched from coordinating card stock and some little arrows that have been stamped and cut out with Paper Snips.

Next comes the Chocolate Chip die cut letters spelling out the word “LOVE” that have been added with small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensions. Then two more of the little arrows stamped and cut out added to the letters with some more small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. And a little sparkle is added with the two Rhinestones.

The final step is the sentiment, stamped in Chocolate Chip, and cut out with Paper Snips. Added to the bottom is a little piece of Coastal Cabana Ruffle Stretch Trim to finish it off.

Isn’t it just too cute?

I’ve modified how I make this shaker frame slightly from the way Janeen did it, to make it a bit easier for me, and hopefully for you too! Want to know how the low profile shaker frame is made? It’s so simple really – why not watch my video tutorial to show you how?

Easy, right?

Did you hear my four legged kid in the background? That was Chewie. I’m not sure what got into her, but for some reason Chewie felt the need to make sure all those “awful” robins stayed out of her yard while I was videoing – LOL.

I hope you enjoyed the video – Can you see all kinds of possibilities for these low profile shaker frames with all the different shape Framelits we have available? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Hello, Lovely (130240/130243)

Inks: Chocolate Chip (126979) and Coastal Cabana (131175)

Paper: Coastal Cabana (131297), Chocolate Chip (102128), and Whisper White Card Stock (100730)

Language of Love

What do you do when it cold or rainy outside? And it’s been that way a lot here in North Georgia – it’s winter after all. I don’t tend to get cabin fever like the rest of my family – for some reason this type of weather makes me want to bake!

blueberry buckle

Yep, I said bake. I love the way it warms up the house and enjoy smelling all those wonderful aromas as I bake. Not that my family complains – they’ve got a freezer full of goodies now.

So today I thought I would share with you one of our favorite recipes for coffee cake that uses the blueberries from the yard. Blueberries are soooo easy to grow and once they get going they give you LOTS of berries.

Freezing the extras is really easy too. Just rinse them off, lay them out on a cookie sheet, dry and pop them in the freezer. (This lets them freeze individually so that you can just pull a few out at a time.) Then place them into bags or containers. I’ll find my containers partially emptied at times, since Larry and our kids love snitching from the containers LOL. A little taste of summer year round!

blueberry buckle piece

Blueberry Buckle

Topping:

½ c. brown sugar

1/3 c. flour

½ tsp. cinnamon

¼ c. butter, softened

Mix topping ingredients together and set aside until batter is finished.

Batter:

2 c. flour

2 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

¾ c. sugar

¼ c. shortening

1 egg

½ c. milk

2 c. (1 pint) blueberries, washed and drained

Mix together sugar, shortening and egg. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to shortening mix. Fold in blueberries. Spread batter in greased and floured 8×8 inch pan. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 – 50 minutes.

Fresh blueberries are best, however you can use frozen. If frozen, do not rinse, as they will turn batter blue – just gently turn into the batter. A few extra minutes may be needed for bake time when using frozen berries. Just check for doneness with a tooth pick.

You can see one of our favorite recipes for fresh blueberries that I share with you last summer by clicking HERE.

Anyhow you want to see the Language of Love stamping project, right?

Here is a card that I received during Leadership that uses the Language of Love and So Very Grateful stamps sets from the Occasions Catalog. Karin shows another way to use the Language of Love stamp set to create a thank you card – it’s clearly not just for Valentine’s Day.

Language of Love Leadership Swap

I am hoping you can see it – but there is a torn edge on the floral pattern of designer series paper that adds interest and texture to this card.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Language of Love (133074/133077) and So Very Grateful (133050/133053)

Inks: Real Red (126949) and Coastal Cabana (1331175)

Paper: Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (132996), Real Red (102482), Coastal Cabana (131297), and Whisper White card stock (100730)

Serene Silhouettes

Yesterday I showed you a Valentine project using the A Round Array Stamp Set. Today’s card uses the Serene Silhouettes stamp set as it’s focal point, and same sentiment from the A Round Array. (The A Round Array set is really a great all occasions set with some lovely images. Want to see them all  – click here.)

I really love the images in the Serene Silhouettes (132073/127324). I think they are elegant and timeless and can be used with all kinds of occasions.

Serene Silhouettes

I stamped this card during Leadership during one of the Shoebox Swaps. (I wish I could tell you who designed it, but there was no name included.)

Serene Silhouettes Leadership Swap 2014

I really like the colors chosen and  the layout. The Red Glimmer Paper gives it some “bling” and a pop of color, just right for Valentine’s Day. But I think this layout works well for other occasions too. What do you think? Can you see a birthday or even a sympathy card with just a couple of changes?

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Serene Silhouettes (132073/127324) and A Round Array (129087/129090)

Inks: Marina Mist (126962) and StazOn Black (101406)

Paper: Red Glimmer Paper (121790), Basic Black (121045), and Whisper White (100730)

Accessories: 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (129404), 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (127811), Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon (119261), Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406), Small Heart Punch (117193), and Stampin’ Sponges (101610)

Sweetheart Treat Bags

Did you know that our A Whole Lot of Love promotion has been extended until February 14th? What does that mean? You can still get the great products and kits until February 14th – Yippie, right? Click HERE to see more about A Whole Lot of Love promotion and the items that are included.

Here is project I made with the Sweetheart Treat Bags (134610) and the Love You to the Moon stamp set (133140/133143) and stepped up a bit with a couple of things not included in the kit.

Love You to the Moon Sweetheart Treat Bag

I filled this little Sweetheart Treat Bag with chocolate kisses and then stamped my image from the Love You to the Moon stamp set in Real Red (126949). Punched it out using the Ticket Duo Builder Punch (126883) and layered that onto a Real Red punched ticket that I cut in half. Stapled a little piece of our Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon (125582) and the banner that comes in the kit to the bag to seal it, and then added my image using a dimensional. Quick and easy peasy!

You can see my Sweetheart Treat Bag with just the kit elements HERE.

Want to see a Valentine 3d swap that I received during Leadership? This one is great project for the kids or even a teacher to use for class Valentines.

A Round Array Leadership Swap 2014

It just requires some pencils and our 1″ x 8″ Cello Bags (124134).  The cute little image from the A Round Array stamp set (129087/129090) was stamped in Real Red and punched out with our 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (129404). Then layered onto a 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (127811) with a piece of Real Red 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and attached to the cello bag.

How much easier can it get right? Any child would love this as their class treat. A new pencil was always a hit with my kids.
