Eggstra Spectacular Easter Basket

Check out this cute little Easter basket I made to put some goodies in for friends this Sunday. Isn’t the little bunny image too stinking cute?

Eggstra Spectacular Easter Basket (1)

I think it turned out nicely and it will hold quite a bit. I’ve got some cute little note pads and pens to place inside along with a little bit of chocolate.

I used the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper to create the little “basket” along with the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set.  I used my Blender Pen and colored the bunny with Smoky Slate and a little Calypso Coral to highlight the dotted lines. (Blender Pens (102845) and your Classic Ink Pads are a quick and easy way to add color to any image.)

I wanted a little more color so I sponged the outside of the circle with Daffodil Delight. Popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added it to my scallop circle that I had already paper-pierced.

I didn’t have the color ribbon on hand that I originally wanted to use, so instead I added color to the ribbon that I had, the 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon.  I think it turned out rather cool using the coloring technique that I used, Faux Dipped Die.

Eggstra Spectacular Easter Basket (2)

Want to see more about the Faux Dipped Die Technique? Check out this video it’s got all kinds of great ideas for you to try.

Easter is this Sunday, so stop by tomorrow when I’ll be sharing with you several quick and easy cards for you to make and give for Easter along with some exciting news!

Rev Up the Fun!

Need a great guy set? Why not try Rev Up the Fun!  – it’s a great set for both the young and the young at heart.

Rev Up the Fun!

This card was quick and easy to make since I used our Silver Foil Sheets to run through the Big Shot using my Top Note Die first and then the Chevron Embossing Folder. I think our Silver Foil sheets are great to add the look of chrome when using this set.

I simply stamped my image in Real Red and then cut it out with my Ovals Collection Framelits and sponged the edges to pull in a little more color. Can you see the 1/8″ Mini Brads in the center of the wheels? They add another touch of chrome to the image tying it all together.

I adhered this to my prepared Top Note piece that I had already added to my sponged card front. Can you see the touch of color around the edges of the card front? I think the sponging adds a little more depth and adds interest. My last step was to add my sentiment popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Voila! It’s ready – Now to just mail it off.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Rev Up the Fun! (130520/130523)

Inks: StazOn Jet Black (101406), Real Red (126949), and  Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad (126981)

Paper: Silver Foil Sheets (132178), Real Red (102482), and Whisper White Card stock (100730)

Accessories: Top Note Die (113463), Chevron Embossing Folder (127749), Ovals Collection Framelits (129381), 1/8″ Mini Brads (122941), Extra Large Oval Punch (119859), and Stamping Sponges (101610)

Eggstra Spectacular M&M Carrot Treats

Have you seen the new Carrot Cake M&Ms on the shelf right now for Easter? Well when I saw them last month they really peaked my interest – after all a Carrot Cake M&Ms, that sounds interesting. I figured they could taste really good or really bad right?

Well the bag didn’t sit on my counter long before someone broke them open. The soft colors are really pretty for spring and based on how quickly they disappeared among my clan I’d have to say the vote was that they were pretty good. So out I went to find another bag for this project! LOL

Eggstra Spectacular 3d Carrot M&M treat (3)

Here is what I came up with after playing around a bit. Of course since they were carrot cake it had to be carrots, right? And I knew that I wanted to use the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp set from the Occasions Catalog – I just love this little set!

I dug though my cabinet and found my cake decorating bags since I figured they were carrot shaped.

Eggstra Spectacular 3d Carrot M&M treat (1)

I wanted the top to be Gumball Green so I could use the Stitched Satin Ribbon that I love to work with so I debated for a bit on how to accomplish that, but since I wanted the top to be soft like the M&Ms I ended up reaching for my Gumball Green Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill and my Crystal Effects. What the heck it was worth a try.

I started by simply placing a quarter sized spot of Crystal Effects on my pallet and mixing in a few drops of Gumball Green Reinker. I mixed well until I got the color I wanted and applied it to the outside of my bag using a paint brush and allowed it to dry really well. I found a thicker layer was better for my tastes. (Tip: you’ll want to do this on the outside of the bag – not the inside, since some might break off while you fill it or you take the candy out.)

For the focal point I used the images from the Eggstra Spectacular stamp set and colored them as desired. I punched out the image with a 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and placed that onto a circle I cut using the Circles Collection Framelits, and then layered that onto a 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle on which I had paper pieced the scallops. Placed some Linen Thread through one of the holes and tied a knot creating a loop for later.

Eggstra Spectacular 3d Carrot M&M treat (2)

When I was ready I filled the bag with M&Ms and wrapped a piece of Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the bag, slipped the ribbon through the loop on my tag and finished my bow. Voila! Here is my first Carrot Treat:

Eggstra Spectacular 3d M&M Carrot Treat (5)

Then I got to thinking – I just got my Fringe Scissors in and so started to play a bit with the top. Here is what that one ended up looking like.

Eggstra Spectacular 3d Carrot M&M treat (4)

This is one of the first bags I had added the Crystal Effects mixture to and so the color layer wasn’t as thick. But I think the Fringe Scissors adds some whimsy and makes it look a little more realistic.  (Tip: you’ll want to do this on the outside of the bag – not the inside since some might break off while you fill it or s you take the candy out.)

What do you think?  Which carrot do you like best? Why not leave me a comment and let me know. I love hearing from you and appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Geometrical Meets Pennant Parade

Pennants are on trend right now and so here is a birthday card that I made for another of those spring birthdays that I told you about.  I told you there were a lot of us born in spring. LOL

Pennant Parade and Geometrical

I really like the way this card turned out and hope my friend will enjoy it too when she receives it in the mail. I think its bright and cheerful and just right for a her spring birthday. And although I picked the Geometrical sentiment for a birthday card this time I think the sentiments in this particular set are pretty versatile for all kinds of occasions.

To get started I chose the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper to use on the pennants and in turn this helped me choose the colors for the rest of the card. Isn’t it great when you use Designer Series Paper? It makes knowing what colors look great together so easy!

And do you see the Itty Bitty Shapes that I included on the pennants? This set of three punches is currently part of our Weekly Deals and are great for all kinds of different things. They add just the right touch of color when you need it and our Basic Rhinestones add a pop of sparkle!

Want to see another project using another of the items from this week’s Weekly Deals?

Well check out the Gingham Stampin’ Around Wheel used for my next card.

Wildflower Meadow Team Project June 2013

I’ve used the standard sized Gingham Wheel to add a band of color along the lower edge of this all occasions card – and it too is part of our Weekly Deals. Whoo hoo!

Wheels are so easy to use and when you’re using them for a small section like I did here you can just use your Classic Stampin’ Pad. Want to create a longer run with a wheel? Try our Uninked Stampin’ Around Cartridges! They make it easy.

If you’d like to know all the details about this card you can click HERE to see my original post and the supply list.

Well that’s it for today. Come back by tomorrow and I’ll show you the project I’m working on today for Easter.
