More About BCRF

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) advances the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF has raised more than $550 million to fuel discoveries in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, survivorship and metastasis, making it one of the largest non-governmental funders of breast cancer research in the world. This year BCRF has invested $58.6 million in research, to support over 235 researchers at leading medical institutions across six continents, including $11.6 million to the international Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund focused on metastasis. By spending 91 cents of every dollar on research and public awareness programs, BCRF remains one of the nation’s most fiscally responsible nonprofits. BCRF is the only breast cancer organization with an “A+” from CharityWatch, and has been awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating of four stars 13 times since 2002. What does Paper Pumpkin have in common with Chick-fil-a?

Recently I was asked asked to create hand stamped invitations for the Premiere night and Grand Opening of the new Cleveland Georgia Chick-fil-a (You can click HERE to see their facebook page and what’s happening).

I was thrilled a location would be opening in Cleveland since Chick-fil-a is a favorite of mine – I can still remember being introduced to this restaurant at the CNN Center on my first trip to downtown Atlanta in 1982. I was hooked. And since Milwaukee didn’t have this culinary delight, I had to wait until 1984 and my move to Atlanta to take advantage of these chicken sandwiches on a regular basis. LOL!

Any how, want to see what I came up with? This first card was for the Premiere event. I’ve used the exclusive Paper Pumpkin stamp set from the Sew You kit that arrived in my mailbox March this year. (If you want to learn more about this kit, it is still available to Paper Pumpkin subscribers – Click HERE to see more information about past kits)

Cleveland Chicfila Grand Opening Invitations Aug 2015 (2)

This first card uses the red and black colors that Chick-fil-a is known for and has a more elegant feel to it since it uses our Red Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil Sheets and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

What does assembling 140 invitations look like – here is a quick glimpse at part of the process.

Cleveland Chicfila Grand Opening Invitations Aug 2015 (3)

And this second card, used for the invitations to the Grand Opening uses our more country inspired, Farmers Market Designer Series Paper (138448) since Chick-fil-a wanted a more casual country feel.

Cleveland Chicfila Grand Opening Invitations Aug 2015 (4)

I chose the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (132140) and the Cherry Cobbler polka dot and Blackberry gingham patterns from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper  (138448) to create these cards. Bringing a more home grown feel to things.

Here is a close up of the Blackberry Bliss version, sorry but I forgot to take a photo of the Cherry Cobbler Polka dot version.

So what do you think? Which one is your favorite? Elegant or country?

Don’t you love the way that just a little change like color or Designer Series Papers can change the look and feel of your project? Two cards, same layout and stamp set – but  two totally different feels.

Want to join the Paper Pumpkin fun? Check out the special promotion below  – it ends tonight!

Vintage Leaves

Fall is fast approaching – some mornings there is a nip in the North Georgia Mountain air. And with Labor Day on Monday summer will be officially over. While I mourn the more laid back days of summer I also look forward to the change in the seasons – an of course a lower air conditioning bill. LOL.

Today’s card was given to me Terry, a fellow demonstrators. She’s added a bit of shimmer and shine to her rich Cherry Cobber Leaf by adding some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

Vintage Leaves

Can you see it?

And isn’t it great that Stampin’ Up! helps us save 15% off with Bundles? You can find a money saving bundle (140235) for the Vintage Leaves stamp set and Leaflets Framelits dies on page 88 of our Annual Catalog. Whoo hoo! how great is that – Make fantastic fall projects and save too?

Of course, one of the great things about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is being part of a Team and being able to share what we love with each other. With the Holiday Catalog just launching it is a wonderful time to join Stampin’ Up! I’d love to talk with you and see if it is something you might enjoy doing. Why not drop me a line or give me a call and I can tell you all bout the benefits of joining my team, The Blue Mountain Stampers. We have such fun together. I know you’d enjoy it too. Cheer All Year

Check out this fun card for Halloween that was made using the the Cheer All Year stamp set (139839) found in the Holiday Catalog.

All Year Chear

It’s a great choice since it has some great images and sentiments – and who doesn’t like feathers right? They are right on trend.

And Lorraine also used our fun and versatile Spider Web Doilies (139622). At first glance you see a spider web, but cut off the outer “web” part  and you’ve got a great medallion to use on your projects. Flip it over and add the color of your choice since the back is white – and you have a whole different look.

And do you notice the cute little Into the Woods Elements (139636)? Aren’t they darling? Both of these accessories are quick and easy to add when you are using our new Fine Tip Glue Pen (138309). It’s a must have adhesive for paper crafters!

Have you gotten your Holiday Catalog? If not contact me today!

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Cheer All Year (139839)

Inks:Tangerine Twist Classic Ink (133646) and Basic Black Archival Ink Pad (140931)

Paper: Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (139584) and Tangerine Twist card stock (138420)

Accessories: Spider Web Doilies (139622),  Into the Woods Elements (139636), and Fine Tip Glue Pen (138309)

Let’s get Spooky with the Seasonal Frame Thinlit Dies!

Today’s card that I created is a pretty quick and clean card – and I used the NEW Seasonal Frame Thinlit Dies (139658) found on page 40 of our NEW 2015 Holiday Catalog. This set of framelits comes with 8 dies! Yep, and it’ll take you though the holiday season with pizzazz.

Seasonal Frame Thinlits Die and Happy Haunting DSP

Just add your favorite Designer Series Papers, such as I’ve done with the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (139584) for Halloween. I couldn’t using resist these cute little ghosts to create a fun Halloween card to tuck inside a little treat for someone special.

And these new seasonal sentiments are quick and easy to add to any project when you use our Fine Tip Glue Pen (138309) found on page 43 of the Holiday Catalog.

On a personal note as some of you already know, Kaitlin was diagnosed with bilateral stress fractures in her legs August 18th and is now in a wheel chair for at least 6 to 8 weeks.

Kaitlin has been a real trooper about it all and has been very positive when facing the challenges of dorm life and College, however it’s also been a huge hurdle for her since she is used to being very active with school and work. I know in particular, not being able to work with the Baldwin High School for the marching season is pretty tough, since it is her passion and she has enjoys working with the staff and students and helping them learn.

It’s been wonderful that her professors in the music department have been so supportive and great to her along with her classmates. We’re counting ourselves extremely blessed that she has such a wonderful group of friends to help her get around college so she could continue school this fall. As you can imagine, it helps me sleep at night to know that they are there.

Kaitlin & Larry bilateral stress fractures

This photo was taken of  Kaitlin & Larry the first day in the chair and after we got the braces fitted on Friday the 21st. (She doesn’t yet have on her very “snazzy” over-sized white Velcro shoes to finish the outfit,  so she could her shoes on by herself. (It’s a good thing she has a great sense of humor about things – She and her friends are already thinking about Star Wars themed group costumes for Halloween,  she’s planning on being the storm trooper. LOL I can’t wait to see what they end up doing together.)

I hope to be back sharing with you again daily now that I’ve gotten our daughter settled and she is adapting to life on campus.

I’m available as always and am here to answer questions. If you need to leave a message or email me I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, just like normal. Of course, my class schedule hasn’t changed.

Supplies:

Paper: Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (139584), Basic Black (121045) and Real Red Card stock (102482)
