Today I thought I would share with you the scrapbook page I created using the Wetlands Stamp Set (126695/126697) that I submitted for the Convention Challenge.
One of the things I love about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that Stampin’ Up! is always giving us opportunities to learn and grow on a personal level, in addition to indulging our creative side. I love that Stampin’ Up! gives us the tools to create projects that we can use in our every day lives. And as we say goodbye to our 2013 Catalog and welcome our new 2014 Catalog Stampin’ Up! has offered a challenge to demonstrators with a contest to participate in Convention Displays.
I was inspired by a card that I had made earlier for my image and color pallet. I thought the Wetlands stamp set was just perfect for this project, (you’ll notice the sea oats in the photo below.)
I had a photo that I wanted to make into a home décor item as a gift for my friend. So that’s where I started. (and no, these adorable children aren’t mine LOL.)
Can you tell what I used for my base? Well, I used a piece of Pool Party from a package of the Subtles Core’dinations Card Stock (129954) that I spritzed a Stampin’ Spritzer and Baked Brown Sugar to add that feel of sand and sea spray from the ocean.
Did you know that our Core’dinations Card Stock is part of the Retirement List? I was rather sad to see it there since it is great for all kinds of things and I reach for it quite often. It has a wonderful texture on one side and is smooth on the other. So you can not only use it to sand and tear, but it is also great to use to add texture to your project too! And if you love to scrapbook a 12 x 12 page you’re in luck because it comes in pack of 12 x 12 sheets of assorted colors.
Now I just need to place it into a 12 x 12 frame that I’m making for it before I give it to her. I hope she’ll like it. I just love the way it turned out.
