Sweets for the Sweet

As I mentioned earlier this week I’ve been working on items for my daughter’s graduation and thought I would share with you the progression I went through when designing her party invites. We’re using the Luau theme of course, I didn’t realize it before recently, but did you know that May is Luau month? Explains a lot- lol.

I started making invitations using the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set (item #128742/122512). Here is the first one I came up with. This one uses Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, and Pool Party. I wasn’t completely happy with the proportions so wanted to play a bit more.

Then I got to thinking maybe she’d like school colors being used. Habersham Central has four school colors so there are plenty to choose from. Here is what I came up with next. This one uses Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise card stocks.

That really didn’t get me excited and I had realized I had Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder (woohoo!) so here is what I came up for my last sample. Of course it uses the same color card stock as try #2 but feels much different.

I really liked the way this one turned out with the Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder.  It makes the umbrella look like a plastic umbrella.

If you’re wondering on how I created the sand I used are soon to be retired Color Spritzing Tool (item 107066) popped in my Soft Suede Stampin’ Marker, spritzed and then torn the edge of the paper. Love the look of this technique, don’t you?

Since I was having so much fun and have wanted to try some punch art I kept going. Stop by tomorrow to see my punch art card and find out which one my daughter choose for her party invites!

  1. Cute ideas Jini. I like number 3, and the addition of the “just for fun – sun”. The sand looks almost real. But the string doesn’t add anything for me…
    Did younfussyncut the umbrella?
