Rolling hills, Blue Spruce, the Lake front, beer battered fish fries, Lannon stone, and red barns. These are all things that remind me of the area I grew up in. I recently returned from my High School Class Reunion and didn’t realize I’d forgotten beautiful it was in Wisconsin. I hadn’t been back home for 27 years, so it was a lot of fun catching with my brother and friends. It also reminded me as to why I enjoy the crash of the waves on the beach and the rolling hills of North Georgia so much. So today I thought I’d share some cards with you that make me think of my childhood.
These first two cards use the Christmas Barn Bundle (159747) from the Mini Catalog found on page 28.
These big majestic barns dot the landscape still and hark back to those memories of Thanksgiving at my Uncle Rodger’s house. He was a dairy farmer and that barn wasn’t far from the house. Of course, the dairy cows set the schedule for life and meals back then for many families.
This next fun fold card uses the Brewed For YOU (159087) stamp set found on page 83 of the Annual Catalog. It also has a set of coordinating dies that can be purchased in a money saving bundle giving you a lot of crafting options. With all the craft breweries popping up here in my area the past years, it’s sure to be a hit.
Prost! (that’s German for cheers) Food always goes hand in hand with local taverns for me that are dotted across the country side, especially the Friday night fish fries with beer batter! Funny the things we remember from childhood, isn’t it?
Here is a picture of my Great Grandfather Roecker’s farm. So many of the old family homes are gone now that I remember from my childhood, but it was a lovely fall day to drive around the country roads with my brother.
Stop back by tomorrow when I’ll be sharing some cards using the Hope & Prayer stamp set from the Annual Catalog.
