Why not Rev Up the Fun!

Rev Up the Fun! is a stamp set with a young man’s favorite things – after all what boy doesn’t like cars and motorcycles, right? So this card was created with our nephew in mind who is turning 7 this month.

Rev Up the Fun!

The Rev Up the Fun! stamp set is a lot of fun to work with and I just love the cute sentiments included in the set – they’re well, just a lot of fun.

To create this card I used our 1″ Square Punch to cut out the different images after I stamped them. I used one of our new Neutrals Designer Buttons for the fourth square since it reminded me of a tire.

Would you believe the Designer Series Paper is from our Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper, it’s not just for Halloween as you can see? I love to find different ways to use our holiday papers and the patterns in this package are really great for all kinds of year round cards.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Rev Up the Fun!

Inks: Real Red Classic Ink Pad (126949) and Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad (101406)

Paper: Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper (132185), Real Red (100052), Basic Black (121045), and Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650)

Accessories: 1″ Square Punch (124094) and Neutrals Designer Buttons (130031)

Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card

This past week a very special childhood friend of mine celebrated his 81st birthday and I wanted to make him a card he’d flip over – so I made this Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card for him using our new Circle Card Thinlits Die and the Magnificent Maple single stamp from the Holiday Catalog.

Extended Flip Card front

I thought it would be fun to use the Circle Card Thinlits Die since it makes flip or swing cards so easy to make. And I couldn’t resist adding a bit of “bling” to make it extra special, since Dick has been like a second father to me over the years and always makes me smile. I love getting together with him and hearing his latest joke or funny story. I’m sorry to say it just doesn’t happen frequent enough now a days.

Extended Flip Card Open (1)

Because I wanted to have a little more room to sign this card I created this extended flip card. Want to know how I did it? I made a quick video to show you how – How to Make an Extended Flip Card.

And while I was at it I made a quick tutorial to show you how I created the extended flip card too. Hope you enjoy it!

Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card Tutorial (PDF)

I think you’ll find these cards so much fun to make you’ll want both the Card Thinlits Dies. After all who can resist the Circle Card or Label Card Thinlits Dies and all the extra pieces they come with?

Walk in the Wild Birthday

Seems like we have a lot of birthdays to celebrate in September, so here is my latest creation for one of our friends using the Walk in the Wild stamp set (130354/130357) I really like to use the Walk in the Wild stamp set for the guys in my life and when paired with Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog, I think it’s a great combination for all those fall birthdays I’ve got on my calendar.

Walk in the Wild

Since this is for a guy who is a hunter I wanted to make the card look a bit more aged and rustic. So I used our Stampin’ Distress Tool to really rough up the edges of my mats along with sponging everything.  And to add a little more texture I just did some tearing on the edge of my card stock to allow the wonderful Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper to show that I used as my inspiration for my color choices.

I really like the way this card turned out. Want to see another card I created using the Walk in the Wild stamp set? Click HERE.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Walk in the Wild (130354/130357)

Inks:  Chocolate Chip (126979) and Sahara Sand Classic Ink (126976)

Paper: Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (132184), Sahara Sand (121043), Soft Sky (131203), and Very Vanilla (101650)

Accessories: Stampin’ Distress Tool (127562), Stampin’ Sponges101610), and Dimensionals (104430)

Gently Falling

Today is my mother’s 74th birthday and so I like to make a special card for her. My mom’s favorite season is fall. She loves all the leaves changing color so I thought the Gently Falling stamp set would be a good place to start. I really love all the techniques you can do with the Gently Falling and since it is a two step stamping set it gives you tons of choices!

Gently Falling Birthday

I also wanted to use her favorite color, blue when creating this card so I thought a great place to start was with our Clearance Rack fabric, Spice Cake (item 124066). I pulled the color pallet from this fabric as inspiration when I created this card.

So what do you think? I like to use torn fabric on cards instead of ribbon sometimes – it adds a little different texture I think. I hope my mother will like it.

Don’t you love that we have a clearance rack in the Online Store? I know I do it is a great place to find special buys and the items are always changing. Isn’t it wonderful to be able to find old favorites like the Spice Cake Fabric I used today? Why not check it out by clicking HERE?

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Gently Falling (128430/123804) and En Francais (128562/127790)

Inks: VersaMark (102283), Soft Suede (126978), and Pool Party (126982)

Paper: Soft Suede (115318), Pool Party (122924) and Very Vanilla (101650)

Accessories: Spice Cake (item 124066), Scallop Edge Border Punch (119275),Houndstooth Embossing Folder (123134), Clear Embossing Powder (109130), and Heat Tool (129053)

Photo Clothes Line

Here is my final project that I created for my daughter’s dorm room, a Photo Clothes Line using  Dyed Clothes Pins – I wanted to have a way for her to hang pictures of friends and family easily. Especially since nothing seems to be sticking to her dorm walls I was able to hang this project up easily with push pins.

Photo Clothes Line (1)

First I created three different photo clothes lines for her to hang photos and such from using these cute little Floral Frames Framelits. (Framelits aren’t really designed to cut anything other than paper, but I decided to take the risk and give it a try and it worked).

Then for a touch of the whimsical I added butterflies using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. I simply used my Crop-a-Dile to punch some holes and added some silver wire that I could bend and shape the way I wanted across her wall. It wasn’t the floral wire that I have used in the past, but since I couldn’t find any last minute on the way to Milledgeville, I figured this would have to do in a pinch. I’m not really happy with the wire so I’ll replace it the next time I visit with the floral wire I found afterwards.

Here is a closer photo of part of the photo clothes line hopefully you can see the butterflies better. The room is really narrow so it was tough to get a shot straight on of the entire thing.

Photo Clothes Line (2)

Finally I used the Dyed Clothes Pins I made to hang the photos that I attached to my coordinating photo mats. Kaitlin seems to be happy with the look and final splash of color to her room.

And of course Dad wanted to make sure his baby girl had a picture or two of him – lol. So here is one of them he chose from this spring in her graduation dress on with Larry’s other baby, his 1969 Cutlass. (Poor guy, he’s not missing her at all, ya right – he keeps asking me if she has called. I know he is counting down till fall break!)

Does this dress look familiar? It should, it is just like the one on the cover of our catalog – just in Calypso Coral. Something Kaitlin rolled her eyes at when I pointed it out to her.

Photo Clothes Line Close up

This last photo is of her seating area and the finished French memo boards I showed you in an earlier post. She now has lots of different places to tuck her mementos and items she wants to save.

French Memo Board in Dorm room

Kaitlin seemed very pleased when she got back to her dorm room and found I had spent some time cleaning, organizing and hanging up things while she was at class. I know she is really spoiled, right? But between her finishing up the season with Drum Corp, her heavy class load, and chest pain I felt I could spoil her a little. Even her suite mate thought that it was pretty cool of her mom to do that for her (Whew right, didn’t want to embarrass the kid!)

Joyful Christmas

Yesterday I shared with you my team swap and so over the next couple of days I thought it would be fun to show you some of the swaps my team made. I’ve got a group of very talented ladies and am always impressed with their creations.

So today’s swap is from Janie. She used the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set (131802/131805) from the Holiday Catalog to create this card. I really like the nontraditional colors she used to create this poinsettia.

Joyful Christmas Janie Team Swap Sept 2013 (2)

Janie and I have a mutual love for the colors found in the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper – How about you? Isn’t there is just something that makes me feel good when I look at this designer series paper? And since it also comes in a 48 sheet Paper Stack it’s great for card making!

Yep, you heard me right the Winter Frost designer series paper comes in your choice of either a pack of 12×12 sheets (item 132341) with two special foil sheets or a Paper Stack of 48 sheets that include 4 patterns (item 132183). How great is that – I love all the choices Stampin’ Up! gives us to create with.

Halloween Flip Card

I love our new Thinlits Card Dies and today I wanted to share with you the Halloween card I made for my Team swap last Thursday. Here is the outside.

Halloween Flip Card (1)

And here is the flip side – taking a picture was a bit more challenging with this card – so I hope it shows it well enough.

Halloween Flip Card (2)

My Halloween Flip card uses our NEW Circle Card Thinlits Die (133480). It makes this card sooo easy to create. And Flip or swing cards as they are known while a lot of fun, were more difficult to make the old way, before these dies.

There are two Thinlits Dies available The Circle Thinklits Die (133480) that I used here, and the Label Card Thinklits Die (133479). Check out all the great additional pieces you get too.

Label Card Thinlits Die image Circle Card Thinlits Die image

I based this card on a Halloween Punch Art card that I shared with you earlier HERE. Since I loved the silhouette image I knew that was where I wanted to start. But I simplified it so that the flip card was highlighted too. What do you think?

One of my favorite things about stamping is the camaraderie of stamping with friends. When we moved to Clarkesville in 2006 I wanted to find things local and became very frustrated with the fact that I couldn’t find what I wanted. The long drive to the mall quickly became frustrating when I returned home to find the items I purchased didn’t work with my project I wanted to do.  So I turned to my Stampin’ Up! Catalog that I received during a stamp-a-stack event that I went to with my friend Michelle. And so my journey began – with all the products coordinating so well and the wonderful friends I made stamping I quickly found my crafting became a lot more fun.

How about you? Have you ever thought about becoming a Demonstrator? Would you enjoy stamping and learning more about stamping? Why not check out my Calendar of Events or learn more about joining my TEAM, The Blue Mountain Stampers? Whether you want to earn the 20% discount on your paper crafting supplies or earn a little extra income I think you’ll enjoy the Stampin’ Up! experience too.
