Lots of Thanks File Folder Card

Last week I shared with you how much fun it is to use the Envelope Punch Board to make a file folder card. Well today I’m going to share another card I created using the Envelope Punch Board. This one is a double tab file folder card I made using the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set and the Magnificent Maple single stamp that you can find in the Holiday Catalog.

File Folder Card #2

This card also uses the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper – if you haven’t already gotten some for yourself there is still time. I think you’ll love working with these patterns and colors just as much as I do. The Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper is  great for masculine cards along with all your fall and winter cards that you’ll be making. You’ve seen me use it on other cards that you can find in some of my earlier posts.

I really liked the way this card turned out and it seems so did my friends during our Stamp Diva meeting. So today I thought I would share a video I made for you on how to create this card – I’ve called it File Folder Card #2.

An original title right? Well this title, while not terribly original, gives you a hint that there are more File Folder Card Video Tutorials to come each containing a different style – LOL. So watch for the next one soon.

Lots of Thanks

I really am enjoying using the Lots of Thanks stamp set –  The selection of fonts and sentiments so great. For today’s project I’ve paired it up the Lots of Thanks with the Magnificent Maple single stamp from the Holiday Catalog.

Lots of thanks

How did I put this card together? Well first I used my Stampin’ Spritzer that I filled with bleach to spritz the Early Espresso card stock base that I used for this project. (You’ll want to make sure and designate a Stampin’ Spritzer for this use only. Bleach is tough to clean out of things and you don’t want to spoil your other projects.)

I added a strip of the absolutely gorgeous Birch Paper from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit (found on page 18 in the Holiday Catalog) to the left side. There is a ton of this Birch Paper in the kit so you’ll have plenty to use for all kinds of projects!

I stamped my Magnificent Maple image after sponging it with Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Cherry Cobbler onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, sponged the edges with Early Espresso and then used my Stampin’ Distress Tool to rough up the edges. I mounted my focal point onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I also distressed and then added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back before I added it to my card front.

For my sentiment I stamped it in Early Espresso and then ran it through the Big Shot using one of the accompanying pieces from the Circle Card Thinlits Die to create the banner. Sponged the edges and used my bone folder to curl the ends a bit.  I also ran a second one through the Big Shot using a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock – that I sponged and then cut it in half and attached it to the back before adding it to my card front.

I really love the way it turned out and can’t wait to use the Birch Paper again for other projects.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Lots of Thanks (129687/129690) and Magnificent Maple (131868)

Inks: Cherry Cobbler 126966, Cajun Craze 126965, and Crushed Curry (131173)

Paper: Early Espresso (119686), Cherry Cobbler (119685), and Whisper White (100730)

Accessories: Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit (133463), Circle card Thinlits Die (133480), Stampin’ Distress Tool (127562), and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Best of Greetings

Check out this great card I made recently for my brother-in-laws birthday. I’ve used Magnificent Maple image from the Holiday Catalog and the Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper (132185), it’s not just for Halloween as you can see. The colors it contains are great for all kinds of fall projects.

Magnificent Maple

I’ve sponged the leaf image first with Summer Starfruit and then Cajun Craze. (Of course, you always want to use the lighter color first so that you don’t contaminate your ink pads.) I then stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and finally embossed it using Early Espresso Embossing Powder to add a bit more boldness.

I sponged the edges for all the layers of my focal point pieces with Early Espresso and my Stampin’ Sponge – I thought it soften the edges a bit. I also added some Stampin’ Dimensional between the Cajun Craze and Summer Starfruit layers to give it some depth.

What do you think? Hopefully my brother-in-law enjoyed his card.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Magnificent Maple (131868), and Best of Greetings (133485)

Inks: Summer Starfruit (126991), Cajun Craze (126995), Early Espresso (126974)

Paper: Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper (132185), Early Espresso (119686), Cajun Craze (119684), Summer Starfruit (126839), and Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650)

Accessories: Stampin’ Sponges (101610)

Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card

This past week a very special childhood friend of mine celebrated his 81st birthday and I wanted to make him a card he’d flip over – so I made this Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card for him using our new Circle Card Thinlits Die and the Magnificent Maple single stamp from the Holiday Catalog.

Extended Flip Card front

I thought it would be fun to use the Circle Card Thinlits Die since it makes flip or swing cards so easy to make. And I couldn’t resist adding a bit of “bling” to make it extra special, since Dick has been like a second father to me over the years and always makes me smile. I love getting together with him and hearing his latest joke or funny story. I’m sorry to say it just doesn’t happen frequent enough now a days.

Extended Flip Card Open (1)

Because I wanted to have a little more room to sign this card I created this extended flip card. Want to know how I did it? I made a quick video to show you how – How to Make an Extended Flip Card.

And while I was at it I made a quick tutorial to show you how I created the extended flip card too. Hope you enjoy it!

Magnificent Maple Extended Flip Card Tutorial (PDF)

I think you’ll find these cards so much fun to make you’ll want both the Card Thinlits Dies. After all who can resist the Circle Card or Label Card Thinlits Dies and all the extra pieces they come with?
