So In Love

Over Presidents Day weekend I attended my annual retreat with my friend in Helen at the Tanglewood Lodge. I’ve really grown to treasure this time with them – it’s a wonderful break from the every day routine. I feel very lucky that the Peacocks have included me. They’re a wonderful group of ladies who came together during their children’s Camp Fire years and have continued to gather and travel together on a regular basis. Doesn’t that sound like a fantastic? While they all are very different they enjoy their time together and this event includes multi-generation which is so wonderful to see.

The lodge is a wonderful building that has a great space for us to both craft and sit and relax and with the 2 kitchens there is always a wonderful smell wafting through the air. (Especially when some of the teenagers make everyone some simply yummy cookies on Sunday night!)

And this year the weather was simply gorgeous so I was able to enjoy some of the outdoor areas – eating lunch and enjoying the unusually warm weather for February. Last year we had to end early due to ice storm warnings! What a difference a year makes!

And we had a little visitor who needed some special care. This 3 day old created quite a stir. What fun it was listening to the group try to find a name for this little guy Friday night as we settled in.

My friend Kathleen pampered me a bit with some projects she brought with her all cut and ready to go – all I had to do was enjoy the stamping. So today I thought I’d share those wonderful cards she designed.

This first card uses the So In Love Bundle and I’ve included a complete supply list below for you since it was my favorite of the group, but it was a tough choice. LOL!

This second card was made using the Lift Me Up stamp set (142893/142896) and the Up & Away Thinlits Dies (142748).

I really love the way she used a bit of our Cooper Foil Sheets (142020).

And finally a really cute Hey Chick (Sale-a-bration 143328/143331) card. After all I can’t get enough of this set! Kathleen teamed it up with the Hardwood Background stamp (133032/133035) and can you guess what the punch is?

Well it’s the Blossom Builder Punch (141469). What a great way to use this punch in an out of the box way!

And finally the cute little 3d treat that holds some Hershey’s Nuggets using the Balloon Adventures stamp set (142823).

I simply wrapped the 1″ x 3″ pieces of the Party Animal Designer Series Paper (142738) around each nugget and added a glue dot to hold them in place. Slipped them into our 2″ x 8″ Cellophane Bags (102210) and decorated them using our Balloon Bouquet Punch (140609) which made this a quick and easy project since the Duet Banner Punch (141483) fit the sentiment perfectly!

Part of the fun of this retreat is sharing ideas and learning about other crafting too. You should have seen the Alcohol Paintings some of the girls did – they were wonderful. I wish I would have gotten a photo of them to share with you. (Sigh… I always forget the camera once we get started. Having too much fun catching up with everyone.)

If the idea of having a great group of stamping friends appeals to you why not join my team? Not only will you get a wonderful discount on your Stampin’ Up! products, but you’ll have a wonderful group to craft with. We have such fun when we are together and sharing!

Here comes Peter Cotton Tail….

Ducks, chicks and bunnies always make me think of Easter since my mother use to take us to the Bayshore Mall in the spring to see the eggs hatch, in a really big egg at the mall – over the weeks you could visit and watch the little beaks breaking through the shells to magically appear. It fascinated me every year. So what could be better than a cute little punch art bunny for this project?

I wanted to be able to create them they could be done for both the boys and girls in the family – so here is what I did.

I love that by simply placing the bow in a different location you have a different look – Peter

or Flopsy?

It’s your choice. My kids loved the story of Peter Rabbit growing up! And now I’ve got the song running through my head. LOL! Since it is supposed to be 78 for the high today and it feels like spring, can you blame me?

Notice the sentiment? It’s from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set – a wonderful sentiment set to start with since it has sentiments for all occasions!

Here is a chart for building your bunnies.

Watercolor Pencil Basics

I was so excited to see the Watercolor Pencils in the Occasions Catalog. Stampin’ Up! has given us a new coloring option and in 13 of our Stampin’ Up! colors. Whoo hoo! Who doesn’t love that?

So today I’m sharing with you a couple of videos that I did to show you the basics of using Watercolor Pencils. I hope you’ll find them helpful, I’ve done the video in 2 parts to make things a bit easier.

I’m dusting off my old high school art skills for this and it’s been a while so bear with me. I was lucky to have a wonderful arts program at Brown Deer High School back in the day and I took every class I could! From throwing pots, metals and of course painting – so I hope my favorite teacher, Mr Panaro, would be happy I still have my class notebook after all these years.  After all it’s been a few years. LOL!

I’ve also created some PDFs for you so that you can create these water coloring worksheets for yourself as a reference. You’ll find them listed below the videos.

Getting Started with Watercolor Pencils Part 1 Video Tutorial:

Simply print these PDFs off on Whisper White Card stock to get started making your own.

Practicing a bit will let you know what your own style of water coloring is and what you like best. So have fun and play!

Team Time & Swapping

Inspire, Share and Create – That’s what we do as a team once a month at our meetings when we get together. Today’s items that I’ll be sharing with you are swaps that were made by my fellow team members, a group of wonderful stampers! While we’ve all been stamping for different lengths of time it’s amazing how much we learn from each other! Oh, and did I mention we just have fun?

This first card is one that Mary made. It’s a peekaboo pullback card using the Watercolor Wings stamp set (139424) and Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies (138135).

Done in the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper (141663) and using just two colors – it’s quite striking.

How how about this card Cindy made using the Hey, Chick (Sale-a-bration item 143328/143331) and Greatest Greetings (140703/140706) stamp sets.

Cindy used the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper (142778) and Woodgrain Embossing Folder (127821) to create a fun textured background for this little water colored image.

And how about some fun goodies too? Deborah made these fun little bags using the Oh, So Succulent Bundle (145184) and wrapped it all up with a bow!

If you haven’t felt the Succulent Garden 3/8″ Ribbon (142781) – it’s sooo soft and luxurious feeling. I wasn’t sure about this suite of products when I first saw them, but I’ve definitely added them to my wish list!

And finally a little file folder filled with a Ghiradelli chocolate. I love the soft colors of the Cupcakes & Carousel Designer Series Paper Stack (142744) Cindy teamed up with the the  Designer T stamp set (Sale -a-bration item 143356)  sentiment. Can you guess where the sentiment on the tab comes from?

Well it’s the Pretty Kitty stamp set (141861/141864). Of course, the cloud and little bird are from the Tree Builder Punch (138295). Fun right and who wouldn’t smile when they got this little treat? If you’d like to learn how to make these little treat folders you can click HERE to see my video tutorial.
