On a personal note – I sent our daughter, Kaitlin off on Friday morning to DCI for the next two months. I did really well and only teared up as I checked her in at the airport and only got one set of “eye rolls” when I said text and send pictures a bunch of times. After all I’m going to miss the kid and the little stacks of junk laying all over the house that I trip over when she is home.
She was both excited and feeling overwhelmed with packing. I can honestly say mom was a bit too – trying to get the required 30 pairs of sock and underwear along with all the other items into one suit case was a hoot! (She was flying which added to the stress since the bag couldn’t be more than 50 pounds!) The enthusiastic picture above was the first of three times we pack things into the suit case.
Thankfully one of the vets took pity on the rookies and sent a picture of what she took with her so we were able to add a duffle bag for the sleeping bag and sleep mat and water cooler!
Kailtin will be marching with the Seattle Cascades and touring the country this summer on a bus (I think the show schedule shows 19 cities in 30 days!) Seriously, she says this will be fun and worth every penny. I know that it will be a experience of a lifetime, but really 2 months of sleeping in gyms floors and traveling packed in a bus…..hmmm.
We’ll be able to see her perform when she comes to Atlanta and performs at the Dome in July. Of course, I wanted to have a little reminder of home while she is away so I made some special tags for her bags for her. I couldn’t resist 🙂
She seemed especially pleased with the music theme and the way these turned out since I let her choose the color. I simply took a piece of black cardstock, scored it so that her information was hidden on the inside and decorated.
