Organizational Skills

Have you ever laid something down and then minutes later not been able to find it again? I know I do all the time. I wasn’t like this pre-children – so it must be because I’ve got are teenagers right, and not because of my age!

I’ve just spent the past 30 minutes hunting for a stamp set that I used yesterday and can’t find it. I’m sure I left it on my desk where I planned on using it next. I’m thinking this is my cosmic pay back for feeling rather smug yesterday for reaching my goals and being on schedule with things.

Grrrr… Well I got to thinking that I can’t be the only one with a craft room that looks like it exploded, right? So I thought I would share with you a photo of what my room looks like.

Keep in mind I’m normally very good at organizing my spot after I’m done creating but with learning new technology, events, and my daughter’s competition band season in full swing I just haven’t been home much and haven’t gotten things done like I normally do. Sound familiar?

Be prepared  – if you are a little compulsive, here’s your warning – don’t look!

Made you smile huh? I bet you’re feeling better about your space right now!

Look at my new Heat Tool holder!

Do you like tools and organizing to help you in your paper crafting? I know I do and I’ve had a wish list that has been growing along with my love of stamping. My son, Johnathan, who enjoys stamping, was trying to come up with ideas for me for Christmas because his funds were limited. He has been spending a lot of time in the work shop since landscaping is slow right now. He’s been playing with his “toys” during his college break and came up with some wonderful gifts for Christmas that have been on my list for awhile.  I thought I would share them with you today.  Forgive me for “bragging” a bit – I’m a proud mom.

First is a non stamping gift – it’s a coffee mug holder for my kitchen wall. I’ve been collecting coffee cups since my first school trip to Germany in high school and so have quite a collection from the different places I’ve been over the years.

The second item is a heat tool holder so that I can work hands free. He made several of these for me as he fine tuned his own version of this idea. One in pine that is stain grade, one in MDF that is paintable and finally he surprised me with a beautiful one that he made out of a black walnut stump from the yard which was part of my Christmas gift. (Everyone thought these were great when they saw them so he’s making some up to sell.)

His last gift was a ribbon holder for my desk. He is still “tweaking” this design a bit before he makes it into a wall unit for me but so far it is working great!

Charlotte Regional – Twist it Up!

Ever have one of those aha moments? Well I did recently at our recent Charlotte Regional when Donna Griffith asked the question, Are you a twister?  Sometimes we forget the most basic things as we demonstrate and need a quick reminder.

Do you twist the markers around until you can see the picture of the tip to determine which end you need?  Well twist no more – just take a look at your marker, and you’ll see a line at each end–one is thicker than the other.

The thick line indicates the fat flare tip.

And the thin line indicates the fine journaling tip.

How about you, are you a twister?
