Boo to You!

Yippie! It’s Halloween and here is today’s little treat item that I made using the Fall Fest stamp set (135194).

Fall Fest Triangle Box 2 (1)

I stamped using our Whisper White Craft Ink Pad (101731) and then embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (101930) to give it a translucent ghost like look. What do you think? The sentiments come from the Hostess special, Good Greetings Stamp Set (135014/135017) and this set is only available until the end of the day today if you still want it.

And a close up of the two tags. Want to learn how I made this special little Triangle Box? Click HERE to see my earlier project and video tutorial.

And now for some team swaps. This  card is from my team member Cindy and is a Quarter Fold Card.

It also uses the Fall Fest  and Good Greetings stamp sets. The Fun Fall Framelits (135856) make this project a snap and I love the way she used the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper (135819) to help her choose the colors for this project.

Here’s the last project that I’ll be sharing with you today.  Feathers are right on trend right now and I love the whimsical look JoAnn created with the Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker’s Twine and the Four Feathers set (1354051/135053). What a great card for men too!

On a personal note –

It’s Halloween and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day and evening for our local little trick or treaters. I always look forward to seeing the kids in their costumes – so much so that my daughter texted me a picture of herself getting ready for the day with her friends!

Kaitlin Halloween

Kaitlin is a creepy baby doll marionette. She and her friends were going to be the Fanta girls (do you remember them?) but they ran out of time to find coordinating costumes together. And since there isn’t a lot of shopping options at college they raided the local Wal-Mart girls department.

LOL! I thought it was a pretty clever idea when she told me about it. She was shocked when they could find the items they needed in the little girls department too! I’ll share some more pictures from today on my Facebook page later today. So stop by and check it out.

Just a couple of reminders –

Spooky Spooky Designer Bag

I recently ran across these fun little packs of tic tacs  for Halloween when I was shopping and just had to find a use for them.

Halloween tic tac image

I love to find fun ways to give a little something to my friends, and these are great for both guys and gals, so I created this little gift bag using our Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper.

Fall Fest Halloween Designer Bag (2)

To create the focal point I used my Fall Fest Stamp set and the coordinating Fall Fun Framelits Dies (Bundle 137628). I find myself constantly reaching for this set since it contains such a variety of images for fall.

I added a little piece of Natural & Old Olive Two Tone Trim by the stem. Can you see it? It thought it added a nice little touch of texture. And I used the Halloween sentiment from the Mingle All the Way stamp set on little banners. I simply colored the different parts of the sentiment image using my Stampin’ Write Markers and did each banner separately.

And of course the tails were easy since I used my Hexagon Punch. (What did we ever do before this punch? LOL)

Would you like to know how I made this great little designer bag? Why not watch my Video Tutorial HERE and I quickly show you how.

Fall Fest Triangle Box Tutorial

I’m loving our Fall Fest Stamp Set and the coordinating Fun Fall Framelit dies that you can find in our Holiday Catalog (Bundle 137628). I’ve been making all kinds of project with it that I can’t wait to share with you.

Here is the first project – it’s a Halloween Treat.

Fall Fest Triangle Box

Can you see the shimmer on the ghost? To create that effect I simply stamped in Whisper White Craft and then embossed the ghost image using our Dazzling Diamonds and Clear Embossing Powder. Simply mix them in equal parts, and emboss like normal. What a great effect this creates!

So quick and easy I thought you may want to make some of your own, so here is my latest video tutorial, the Fall Fest Triangle Box. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Love the sentiment? It is from our exclusive Good Greetings Hostess Set (135014/135017). Want a set of your own? You can earn this set by hosting a party with your friends AND it is in addition to your regular Hostess Benefits! PAPER PUMPKIN

Fun Fall Tiny Treat Box

Check out this fun fall tiny treat that I made using the Fall Fest stamp set and the coordinating Fun Fall Framelits that are available as a Bundle (137628).

Fall Fest Tiny Treat Box

Too cute – And just the right size to brighten someone’s day by giving them a little something as a special treat.

How’d I do it? Before I put the box together. I added some interest  by stamping leaves in Versa Mark. To create a collage of leaves, I simply placed all the leaves on one block in random order. Easy peasy. I also stamped a piece of Old Olive card stock at the same time so it was ready for punching the tag.

Next, I stamped my pumpkin in Tangerine Tango and used my Blender Pen to remove the color from the stem and recolored it using the Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker. (The Blender Pen is a trick that saves a bit of coloring.) After running it through my Big Shot I popped it up on my tag with a Dimensional.

I then Stamp my sentiments from the Good Greetings stamp set in Old Olive and Tangerine Tango on some scrap strips of Whisper White Card Stock that I had laying around and then punched the tails on them using the Hexagon Punch.

I used my handheld circle punch (loooove them!) so I could add a piece of Linen Thread which I tied onto the Whisper White & Tangerine Tango Two Tone Trim.

These Tiny Treat Boxes are designed to go with our 25 Days stamp set so you can make an easy advent calendar for Christmas – but what you can use them for, as you can see,  is really unlimited!

Why not check this and our other packaging options out? You’ll find them  on page 10 in the Holiday Catalog.

Feeling adventurous?

On a personal note. I thought I’d share one of my favorite new recipes from this summer. It is something that I concocted myself (which is a first),  after desperate pleas from my son that he was sick and tired of my tried and true fried squash recipe I’ve been using for years. (You see, we had a bumper crop of yellow squash  and I’d been trying all kinds of new recipes for a couple of weeks when he cracked LOL – Thus the squash overload.)

I was feeling adventurous and came up with this recipe, suprise it seemed to a big hit in the Merck household! And I got no complaints from my son! Enough said, right? So as we are cleaning up our garden this season I thought I would share it with you. I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Jini’s Baked Summer Squash

2 tbsp. olive oil
½ – 1 tsp. garlic powder
¼ tsp. – ½ tsp. pepper (to taste)
½ – 1 tsp. sea salt
8 c. yellow summer squash

Mix first 4 ingredients well. Add summer squash and mix until evenly coated. Spread out squash on baking sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes until tender.
Serve immediately.

It also freezes well. If baked not quite as long before freezing it still has is crisp when reheated after freezing.
