Love You To the Moon

Today’s card is one I made to send a friend that is having a rough time lately and I wanted to let her know that she always is a ray of sunshine in my life not matter how rough things get.

I used our retiring Designer Series Paper, Gingham Garden (129310) to determine which colors I went with – that is one of the great things about Designer Series Paper, it helps you choose colors easily!

And this paper coordinates with our Scallops Embossing Folder (132971) from the Occasions Catalog. Don’t you love the way Stampin’ Up! products work together whether they are new or retiring?

The big 50!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was the BIG 50! Doesn’t bother me a whole lot since I’m the youngest in the family – my husband and his brothers are still older than me which I’m always happy to point out to them! So it is hard for them to give me too hard a time since they’ve been there and done that already. LOL.

So today I thought I would share with you the card that my husband made for me. Yes, he stamps, and I figured he was up to something when he snuck down to my classroom the other night. Of course, the fact he didn’t clean up after himself was a clue too so I was curious to see the card he made based on what scraps were left on the table.

Want to see what he came up with? He had a hard time finding things like a stamp set with numbers, although I’m not sure why since Memorable Moments was sitting on the shelf clearly marked. (But then you know how guys are – they can’t find their socks either. LOL)

Ok. Now that you’ve seen the card – let me tell you how he explained it to me, he had a plan in mind. You’re going to love this – Larry is a hoot!

1. He chose black to go with the over the hill theme of 50.

2. He chose the Love You to the Moon image, because after all he still loves me even though I’m now over the hill.

3. He chose the cup cake punch, for the birthday cake of course. (No calories included.)

4. He chose the circle punch and made a moon to go with the Love You to the Moon image.

5. And finally he chose the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker to write with since he couldn’t find the stamp set he wanted.

Here is the best part – get ready for it…. Why? “It’s not a full moon” he tells me and then goes on to explain that “The full moon would be for when you were young, you’ve only got a little life left – that is why the sliver is there.”

I howled with laughter and Kaitlin who has been listening to this explanation with me says to him, “I guess that means your sliver is even smaller dad since you are older than mom, huh.”

After the explanation we went out to a nice dinner at our local Mexican restaurant, El Patron, (so I wouldn’t have to cook). Of course, they sang and brought the dessert, which I dodged and only ended up with a bit of whip cream on my nose. Kaitlin I think was rather disappointed since she was really looking forward to that part of the birthday dinner.

It was a fun week and since today ends our daughter Kaitlin’s Spring Break from College with us, I thought I would share some photos with you from our week together.

We hiked on one of our local trails, Panther Creek, and enjoyed the first taste of spring along with the warmer temperatures last Saturday. This first picture is the three of us taking a break and enjoying the scenery at the half way point of our hike.

Here is the view we were enjoying. It’s a beautiful trail if you are looking for a enjoyable day in the mountains.

And this last photo is one I took in our yard. The grass is covered with these lovely little wild violets. I always enjoy the spots of color in the yard – until Johnathan decides he’s just got to cut the grass and then they are gone!

Such delicate little flowers and violets have always been one of my favorites.

Sweetheart Treat Bags

Here is project I made with the Sweetheart Treat Bags (134610) and the Love You to the Moon stamp set (133140/133143) and stepped up a bit with a couple of things not included in the kit.

I filled this little Sweetheart Treat Bag with chocolate kisses and then stamped my image from the Love You to the Moon stamp set in Real Red (126949). Punched it out using the Ticket Duo Builder Punch (126883) and layered that onto a Real Red punched ticket that I cut in half. Stapled a little piece of our Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon (125582) and the banner that comes in the kit to the bag to seal it, and then added my image using a dimensional. Quick and easy peasy!

Want to see a Valentine 3d swap that I received during Leadership? This one is great project for the kids or even a teacher to use for class Valentines.

It just requires some pencils and our 1″ x 8″ Cello Bags (124134). The cute little image from the A Round Array stamp set (129087/129090) was stamped in Real Red and punched out with our 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (129404). Then layered onto a 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (127811) with a piece of Real Red 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and attached to the cello bag.

How much easier can it get right? Any child would love this as their class treat. A new pencil was always a hit with my kids.

Love You to the Moon Candy Bar Holder

Here is a cute little candy bar treat holder that I made using the Envelope Punch Board and the Love You the the Moon Stamp (133140/133143) set from the Occasions Catalog (page 25).

They’re quick and easy to make and a lot of fun to give. I made these little candy bar holders at Christmas using the Color Me Christmas stamp set, you can see the video tutorial showing you how I made them HERE.

For this project I started with the Retro Fresh Designer Series paper (1326993). I used my Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, and Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image. Punched it out with my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. Layered that on a 1 3/8″ Coastal Cabana circle and then a 1 3/4″ Baked Brown Sugar Scallop Circle that I used my paper piercer and mat on to punch the scallops.

I love my punches they are fun and easy to use – so these little focal points are fast to do.

My little treat holds a mini candy bar.

Love You to the Moon Envelope Treat Pouch

Here is a great treat to give this Valentine’s Day or with this sentiment maybe even for a baby Shower? Love You to the Moon is a stamp set that we can all relate to and has something for everyone.

Technology glitches – some of you may have noticed that my format looks a little odd sometimes in my posts – technology is sometimes a pain, right? Now that I’m back home and back on track, this little glitch is next on my list of to dos – so please bear with me while I get things straightened out.

Here is a quick and easy Valentine treat for family and friends using our Sweetheart Treat Bag kit (134610). The Sweetheart Treat Bags kit comes with 12 heart sacks, banners and Baker’s Twine, all ready pre-cut and ready to use. So it made this project sooo easy – just stamp, fill, tie and go!

The image on this bag is from the Love You to the Moon stamp set from the Occasions Catalog (page 25). I chose set because the images and sentiments are great for all kinds of occasions, not just Valentine’s Day.

After all who hasn’t told their child, “I love you to the moon and back”? Of course the note will work perfectly for my daughter, since music is her thing – so we’ll be making these up as a little surprise for her friends at school.
