A Walk in the Wild

I debated getting the Walk in the Wild stamp set but ended up not being able to resist with all the men in my life. The images just seemed to fit all kind of guy occasions especially for those hunters I know. And when I saw the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper in the Holiday Catalog I knew they would look great together. After all, the plaids made me think of flannel, and that means either tools, camping or hunting in my world.

Walk in the Wild

This particular image from the set makes me think of my friend’s husband. Gary is an avid hunter and goes elk hunting with his dad every year so I thought this would make a great birthday card for him.

It also makes me think of our trip camping with them years ago. Our son, Johnathan was just 4 years old and was fascinated with the wildlife we saw in the Rocky Mountain National Park while hiking. Gary showed Johnathan his elk calls afterwards to get the attention of the heard and draw them in closer for all the kids to see. Thus Johnathan’s elk call was born – hand up to the side of his mouth and very serious about it all, Johnathan would yell “elk, here elk!” He was very proud of himself since he had his very own elk call too.

Elk Call

Here is a picture of the Johnathan looking for the elk at with Larry’s help. Johnathan is the one with the binoculars – needless to say Johnathan is a little older now.

This Walk in the Wild card was created for my Stamp Divas meeting swap last night. I always enjoy getting together with my fellow demonstrators and sharing. Sound like fun? Maybe you’d like to join too. There are still a few more days for our special kit promotion when you join. Click HERE for more information about joining my team, The Blue Mountain Stampers.
