Season Like Christmas

This tree was calling me when I saw it – after all there is nothing like a evergreen this time of year. And I have some wonderful memories of planting hundreds of blue spruce saplings with my father as a small child on our piece of property in Wisconsin. I was a very proud 3 year old helping him!  He’d drop the tree in the hold, pour the water and put the dirt back and it was my job to stomp that dirt down tightly. He was putting them in so we could have a tree farm, unfortunately that never came to pass. The last time I saw my childhood home there is a woods where that once empty field  – and seemed the trees touched the sky!

So this card was inspired by that time with my father and I really like the way it turned out.

What do you think? Want to know how I created the soft forest of trees for the front of this card?

I took a couple of pictures for you to show you how I did it. I used a simple masking technique for this project.

  1. Take some large post it notes and create a frame on the card front. I used my grid paper to make sure the lines were straight. I simply laid my card stock down on the grid paper, used a ruler at the measurement  I wanted and then stuck the sticky note down. The grid lines make lining things up easy and keeps everything straight for you – LOVE my grid paper!

2. I used my Stampin’ Sponge and Soft Sky Classic Ink to lightly sponged the area inside the sticky notes on the card front.

3. Next I stamped the tree image using the Soft Sky Classic Ink. To create the softer trees in the background I didn’t reink in between, but instead stamped multiple times before reinking.

4. I then removed my sticky notes and stamped the tree in Wild Wasabi and Garden Green Classic Ink.

5. Added the trunk and the sentiment and then put it onto the card front.

Voila! A wintry woods.

Here is a printable tutorial for you!

Count My Blessings

Now that the Holiday Catalog Retirement list has posted I thought I’d share some of the wonderful cards made with the sets on the list. These first projects are from my Team members, and this first card is perfect for how I’m feeling today. I was so grateful I was able to reach my feet this morning and put my shoes on for the first time in days! It’s the small things right?

Anyhow, this card uses the sentiment from the Count My Blessings stamp set (144787/144790) and the Colorful Seasons Bundle from the main catalog. Don’t you love the font? Cindy used the Baby Wipe technique to create the fall leaves along with some heat embossing for the sentiment.

I’m very grateful for my team and enjoy the time I get to spend with them. They have been such a wonderful part of my journey with Stampin’ Up! and have become wonderful friends over the years.

Here is a beautiful card made with the Pick a Pumpkin Bundle (144670) and a lovely little gift jar of chocolate chai.

This next project was made by Deborah and is filled with wonderful little goodies (that’s candy of course! Deborah is the best at finding new and unique items to fill her 3ds with.) The box is decorated with the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (144613).

And how about this beautiful card using the same pack of paper?

I love the sentiment used from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set (143726).

I was surprised to see the Christmas Quilt Bundle (16026) on the list of retired items. It’s such a great set for year round use – after all who doesn’t have fond memories of laying under a hand stitched quilt?

And how about this wonderful card using the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper (144623) and Winter Wonderland Embossing Folder (144686)? I REALLY need to stock up on this paper since I have tons of projects left to make with it for my daughter!

Can you guess where the sentiment came from? It took me a bit, but it is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (128748/127802).

And here is another card that uses the same pack of Designer Series Paper along with the Carols of Christmas Bundle (146036/146037).

And This cute little card uses the Santa Suit Bundle (144681)

Don’t forget for the best selection of products on the Retirement List you’ll want to shop early. Accessories always go fast and Bundles are considered in that group because of the Framelits and Thinlits Dies. The good new is stamp sets will be guaranteed available through December 21st. After that their while supplies last too.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the Retirement List & Year End Sale I know there is a lot going on and it can be kinda confusing.

Half Full & More

Have friends who love a good glass of wine? If so then this fun Half Full stamp set might just be for you since you can make all kinds of wonderful things with it such as this card.

And I just love the rich colors, Berry Burst and Tranquil Tide that were used when creating this card. I hope you can  see the sheen on the bottle and glass? Did you know you can use your Fine Tip Glue Pen to create this glass like look. Simply apply and allow to dry, and voila it looks like  glass! Cool right?

Got that bottle of wine or sparkling cider to give and need a tag? How about this beautiful tag using the Year of Cheer Suite of Products you can find on page 37 of our Holiday Catalog? The Cheers to the Year stamp set (144925/144928) is great for not only the holiday season but weddings too.

And who can resist the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (1446640) filled with rich metallics? I love this pack of our paper.

And here are some more wonderful swaps I received at OnStage in Salt Lake.

This card uses the Label of Love stamp set (14490/144967) and Everyday Label Punch (144668) along with the beautiful Foil Snowflakes (144642).

And this card was made using the Musical Season Bundle (144677) and the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper (144623).

The Nature Sings stamp set (143653/144406) from our Annual Catalog has been teamed up with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder (143708) for this card.

And my final card today was made using the Carols of Christmas Bundle (146036/146037.

This first card uses the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper (144623) and Gold Foil Sheets (132622). And don’t you love the Real Red 1/8″ Solid Ribbon (144631)? Thin ribbons are always great to have on had during the holidays.

This next card is monochromatic and uses the Cherry Cobbler 1/4″ Double Stitched Ribbon (144117) found in the Annual Catalog to add a bit of texture.

And this final card is stepped up a bit with layers, sponging, and copper accents. How can you go wrong when you use the Sheet Music Background Stamp that is near and dear to my heart?
