Scallop Tag Topper Treats Tutorial

As promised yesterday here is my latest tutorial for the Scallop Tag Topper Treats that my Hostesses received during the Hostess Appreciation Brunch this past weekend.

Scallop Tag Topper Treats

They are so much fun to make using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, and the basic design can be customized for any occasion. Quick and easy to make – I think you’re friends will love them too, since they hold 2 Hershey’s Nuggets.

Everyone needs a little chocolate sometimes and when it’s in a treat there are no calories, right? LOL

Mini File Folder Treat Holder Tutorial

Yesterday I shared with you the card that we made during my Sale-a-bration Saturday event and today as promised I’ll be sharing with you the little treat that everyone received.

Starburst Sayings Mini File Folder Treat Holder

And since these cute little Mini File Folder Treat Holders are a lot fun to make I couldn’t resist giving them to my attendees this past Saturday.

I created these little Mini File Folder Treats using the Starburst Bundle (134817/134818) from the Occasions Catalog (on page 34). Our bundles are great since when you purchase both the stamp set and coordinating item such as a punch or Framelits together you’ll get a 15% discount!

On a personal note, if you don’t live locally you may not know that we are gearing  up for some severe winter weather. If you live locally, you know exactly what that means here in North Georgia – and it gets kind of crazy.

So I though I would share what we woke up to this morning.

This first one is of our yard – you can see the tire tracks from my son’s four wheeler. He told his dad he was just running to get his coat! My husband that that this was the long way around running down stairs to get his coat – LOL

So this was 7 a.m. this morning.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (3)

Here is a photo of Chewie, our eldest four legged child. She is on her “perch” watching the snow fall and all those pesky birds again – I’m sure you can hear her again in today’s video. Oh well, I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that when I video the next time – LOL.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (1)

And here is the view just a few minutes ago of our oak tree next to the house. As you can see the snow is really starting to pile up on those branches, and for those of us who live in the south you know what kind of trouble that can mean. Especially for all those pine trees along our power lines. This mornings prediction was up to 6 or 7 inches in my area, but the biggest problem isn’t the snow – right now were still above freezing and you can hear the gutters running. Our biggest worry is the ice that is suppose to follow this tomorrow.

Snow Storm Feb 11 2014 Chewie (2)

So that being said – I do plan on posting, however depending on my power and internet situation which is already giving me fits …….. well, you get the idea.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm in their homes this go round. And for those wonderful DOT and public safety jobs who have to be out – I’ll be saying a little prayer for you. My husband is one of those that’s on call 24/7 so I’m hoping that there’s very little need for them this time.

Paper Pumpkin Special (Free 2012-2014 In Color Markers when you join now through March 31, 2014)

Hello, Lovely

Today’s card is one that I made in my Leadership Shoebox Swap last month and it uses the Hello, Lovely stamp set from the 2013 Catalog (page 22). I thought Janeen Mack created such a cool card and it was a lot of fun making it’s focal point – a low profile shaker.

Hello, Lovely Leadership Swap 2014 Low Profile Shaker Frame

This card was fairly simple to make, although it does have a lot of parts to it.

It starts with a Coastal Cabana card base and a layer of Chocolate Chip card stock that has been embossed with the Stripes Embossing folder. On top of that is the low profile shaker filled with some small hearts punched from coordinating card stock and some little arrows that have been stamped and cut out with Paper Snips.

Next comes the Chocolate Chip die cut letters spelling out the word “LOVE” that have been added with small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensions. Then two more of the little arrows stamped and cut out added to the letters with some more small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. And a little sparkle is added with the two Rhinestones.

The final step is the sentiment, stamped in Chocolate Chip, and cut out with Paper Snips. Added to the bottom is a little piece of Coastal Cabana Ruffle Stretch Trim to finish it off.

Isn’t it just too cute?

I’ve modified how I make this shaker frame slightly from the way Janeen did it, to make it a bit easier for me, and hopefully for you too! Want to know how the low profile shaker frame is made? It’s so simple really – why not watch my video tutorial to show you how?

Easy, right?

Did you hear my four legged kid in the background? That was Chewie. I’m not sure what got into her, but for some reason Chewie felt the need to make sure all those “awful” robins stayed out of her yard while I was videoing – LOL.

I hope you enjoyed the video – Can you see all kinds of possibilities for these low profile shaker frames with all the different shape Framelits we have available? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Hello, Lovely (130240/130243)

Inks: Chocolate Chip (126979) and Coastal Cabana (131175)

Here is a fun birthday card that I made for my friend that uses our Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper and the Gift Bow Bigz Die. This card was fun and quick to make since it uses our Gift Bow Bigz Die (129977).

Sassy Birthday Bow Tie

I love the quirky font  used for our Sassy Salutations stamp set (132070/126707) and thought this was a perfect set for this card.  I call this a “bow tie” bow and since my friend’s birthday is New Years Day I thought it would be a great card for her, but I also think it is a great guys card too with a couple of color changes. A Perfect Blend

I love to get together with friends for a cup of coffee and so when I saw this Perfect Blend stamp set in the 2013 Catalog I couldn’t resist adding it to my ever growing coffee and tea themed items. I could easily see making all kinds of gifts and cards with this cute little set that has such great sentiments.

So today I thought I would share with you one of my projects that I made using this cute little Perfect Blend stamp set. It was a gift for a special friend that held two of my homemade and oh sooo decadent chocolate-almond biscotti – hopefully she took a few minutes to enjoy them over a relaxing cup of coffee, before getting back to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Fancy Bubble Bow

I made this gift box using one of our Tag a Bag Gift Boxes – these little boxes really makes things quick and easy. And I used our Season of Style Designer Series Paper since this pattern felt kind of coffee house-ish to me along with the Gift Bow Bigz L Die from the Holiday Catalog.

I made a quick video tutorial so you can see how I made this Fancy Bubble Bow below:

The Gift Bow die makes this Fancy Bubble Bow really so easy to make – And did you know that this great die is in the Holiday Catalog?

Gift Bow Die

Yikes – That means it is only available until January 2nd! So if you have been wanting one for yourself too, why not get one now before they’re gone?

I bet you’re wondering if I’m going to share the recipe, right?

This recipe was given to me by my friend Helen – so I call them Helen’s Chocolate-Almond Biscotti.

Helen’s Chocolate-Almond Biscotti

 ½ c. butter, softened

1 ¼ c. sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. almond extract

2 ¼ c. flour

¼ c. cocoa

1 tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 c. almonds, sliced or chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat buter and sugar in large bowl until blended. Add eggs and almond extract; beat until smooth. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until smooth. Dough will be thick. Stir in almonds with wooden spoon.

Divide dough in half. With lightly floured hands shape each half into a rectangular log about 2 inches in diameter and 11 inches long; place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at least 2 inches apart.

Helen's Chocolate-Almond Biscotti (1)

Bake 30 minutes or until logs are set. Remove from oven, cool on cookie sheet 15 minutes.

Helen's Chocolate-Almond Biscotti

Using a serrated knife, cut logs diagonally, using a sawing motion, into ½ inch slices. Arrange slices, cut sides down, close together on cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 9 minutes. Turn slices over; bake an addition 8 to 9 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet; leave on parchment paper and cool.

Drizzle with glaze or dip ends into glaze.

Helen’s Chocolate Glaze

Place 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon shortening into small microwaveable bowl. Microwave at High 1 to 1 ½ minutes or until smooth when stirred. Drizzle or dip.

I’ve even experimented with the recipe a bit and came up with my own version for those allergic to nuts by just substituting a couple things. I thought they were pretty good too, so here you go.

Double Chocolate – Orange Biscotti

Substitute Orange Extract for Almond and Mini Chocolate Chips for almonds.

Helen's Chocolate-Almond Biscotti (2)

These biscotti are a little extra work – but oooh, sooo worth it when you sit down with your cup of coffee and start to dunk! Even Larry loves them and he doesn’t wait for the coffee!!

Hmmmm…I think it is time for a cup of coffee. How about you?

Color Me Christmas Envelope Treat Pouch Video Tutorial

Today I wanted to share a new video tutorial with you of something I made to tuck into my holiday packages I was mailing. It’s just a little something, so that when they got their package they had something they could open right away. I have a very impatient bunch – LOL. So to hold my little treat I came up with this Envelope Treat Pouch.

I used the deer image from the Color Me Christmas stamp set that you can find in the Holiday Catalog on page 32 – It is a great set for coloring. And of course you have a lot of different choices as to how you color, but for this project I chose to use my Blender Pen and Classic Ink Pads.

Color Me Christmas Envelope Treat Pouch

I really love the way this Envelope Treat Pouch turned out and it holds a good size treat. So I tucked some Russell Stover Chocolates in mine.

Russell Stover Chocolates image

Even better yet,  since you get 4 per 12” x 12” piece of Designer Series Paper you can make a lot to share with your loved ones.
