Amazing Colored Glass

This past Sunday I held my Holiday Catalog Premiere – I love these events since they give me a chance to pamper you, my customers. After all I couldn’t do and share what I love without you! So I thought I’d share some of the projects for those of you who were not able to attend.

Here is a picture of the snack table. (I’m sorry to say I forgot to take pictures of everyone though out the event since we were having such a good time – But luckily I did take some before everyone got here. LOL)

Today’s project is one that I made to decorate the snack table. I came across some fall flowers while out and about one day and couldn’t resist them. Don’t you love the Blackberry Bliss mums?

When I got them home I realized I wanted to make a vase that would pull out the Blackberry Bliss color in the arrangement. Purple has always been a favorite of mine and I just love our new In Color! So here is what I came up with.

So what do you think? I just love the little Autumn Wooden Elements (135846) from the Holiday Catalog that I dangled down the front of the vase. I’m finding all kinds of uses for them! (They aren’t available yet but you can begin ordering from the Holiday Catalog Thursday, August 28th)

Want to know how I added the color to this vase? Well you’re in luck I’ve made a video tutorial just for you – I’ve named this project Amazing Colored Glass! since I think it is amazing what we can do with our paper crafting supplies – hope you enjoy it.

Just a few tips I forgot to mention while taping.

First, you’ll want to let your vase dry really well – it may take a few days depending on how thick your color layer is.

Second, your color layer can scratch. So if your doing a vase like this, you may want to loosly line the inside with tissue paper before adding your flowers, etc.

Festive Flurry Hurricane Candle Holder

I like to make décor items each year to add a little something new for the holiday season. Here is an item that I made to use as a center piece on my dinning room table – It’s a hurricane candle holder using our Festive Flurry stamp set (131778/131781) from our Holiday Carry Over List.

I think it turned out pretty well for a first attempt. What do you think?

On a personal note – I’ve been busy the past week getting our daughter settled and ready for college this week. I’m not a big fan of school beginning. I know, I know, I’m just not right – LOL. But I really enjoy having the kids home for the summer and always have, sigh.

Kaitlin loved the items I made for her last year and so they went up first thing in her new dorm room.

Above is a picture of her memory wall – it contains lots of pictures of family and friends. We added on to it a bit and left some holes to include photos for this year. I’ve also cut some more butterflies to be added for her when she gets a chance. Sigh, I really miss the Butterflies Die it was so great for all kinds of things. And of course here she is with her messaging wall.

This year she just wanted a blank calendar so she didn’t have to switch them out. She’ll add the dates herself this time. (Click to see more of last years’ post and more about the cork board, dry erase and calendar). Isn’t it great that all of these items can be recreating using My Digital Studio?

It was a busy weekend with move in and competition for her. Here is Kaitlin and Larry before the competition.

You’ll be happy to know her core placed 1st with the highest score yet this season. Here is a picture from earlier this season at the Dome – they did a great job, and I’m happy to say I can find her on the field this year!

Patriotic Dotty Angles

Fourth of July is Friday this week and so I’m thinking Red, White and Blue. How about you? So today’s card has a patriotic feel today.

This card can be easily made into any occasion since I’ve used the sentiment from the And Many More stamp set. And Many More is one of our new sets that contain 23 sentiments that work perfectly with our Word Window Punch. What a great deal, right? And this one set covers pretty much any occasion you can think of through out the year!

Did you notice the pop of gold on this card? Well it is our Gold Sequin Trim (132983).

Just pull a few off the string and adhere. Sooo easy to do! And great news the Gold Sequin Trim is part of this week’s Weekly Deals – so why not check it out along with the other items too?

On a personal note – I’ve spent the day yesterday processing goodies from the garden and so I didn’t get to post. I got my first batch of summer squash in the freezer along with some other items I baked using the blueberries we picked.

I’ve got three strainers this size and with all the rain we’ve had it has been tough to pick at times. A good problem to have for sure. LOL Unfortunately our blueberries are bursting from all the rain – they just don’t seem to be able to grow as fast as they need to, so they end up splitting which is kind of a bummer.

So as a special treat I’ve got another recipe for you Blueberry lovers. This one is a favorite of mine. Light and cool – give it a try and see what you think. Why you could even put strawberries on the top for a red, white, blue look for the 4th!

When put into a clear bowl – it is rather pretty. I’m sorry to say I had a hard time getting a good picture of that and this one was the best I could do. Hopefully you get the idea.

Blueberries in the Snow

½ c. sugar

½ c. milk

1 pkg. (8oz.) cream cheese, softened

1 ctn. (16 oz.) whipped topping

1 ½ c. fresh blueberries

1 lg. Angel Food Cake, prepared

1 can (21 oz.) Blueberry Pie Filling

Combine sugar, milk and cream cheese in a large bowl. Beat until blended. Fold in whipped topping and fresh blueberries. Crumble Angel Food cake into small pieces and add to cream mixture. Mix well and pour into a large bowl packing mixture down and spreading evenly. Pour blueberry pie filling on top and spread evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.
