Swirly Bird Fun & a bit more

There is nothing better than playing with new stamp sets and this week I’m going to share some projects that I stamped and received when I got together with some fellow demonstrators last week.

Today’s card was made using the Swirly Bird Bundle (142353).

Just perfect for a summer birthday! And I’ve got to tell you while this wasn’t on my original wish list it is now!!!

The more I see and use this set the more I love it. It’s just so versatile and the options are endless! I’m so glad that Kathleen shared this project with me.

On a personal note –

What do you do when you have the house to yourself for a whole weekend? Recently I was at loose ends for a whole uninterrupted weekend of me time. What does that mean? Well I can do things that I’ve been wanting to or as the spirit moves me. Either way that means no cooking and being on my own time table. LOL!

This particular weekend – I got the bug to sew. Of course, this was after seeing my patio furniture dry rotted when it was uncovered for a family cook out!

After a couple of weeks shopping around and being shocked at the price of replacement cushions. I remembered my friend Cindy recently telling me about recovering hers. Well low and behold there was a fabric sale that came across my email – I was inspired. Armed with limited sewing ability and measurements I headed to town. Straight lines I can do! So I figured I could tackle this project after a bit of googling. LOL!

I fell in love with this fun, bright colorful stripe at the store. Couldn’t resist the Calypso Coral and Mint Macaron combo, there is even a little real red and Cucumber Crush in there! After cleaning out the store of all they had, I came home thinking I could do all 4 chairs with what I had.

I was a bit off – Totally didn’t get what the girl was saying. Now I know why she seemed confused, she must have thought I was a bit crazy. I bet she was shaking her head when I left. ( I didn’t account for the pattern I soon learned!) But that’s okay, I had enough to get me started! Here is my trial run chair.

Simply made a pillow case and whip stitched the back edge. (Since no one will look any ways – that is except my husband! Who checked it out first thing when he got home.)

I was on a roll and soon got the fabric in for the last two chairs – didn’t want to forget what I was doing!

Everyone has been so sweet with their comments – some even thought I’d bought a new set!

Well once the machine was set up in my classroom I couldn’t quit. So since I’ve been wanting to get to this project for ages I thought why not?

This was a favorite purse of mine. Since it is cloth it is light weight and perfect for travel in the summer. Unfortunately my liner had gotten shredded from all the use so I set it aside a couple of summers ago. (I’m sure you have projects like this too. Thinking you’ll get to it soon, but then time passes. I’ve REALLY got to be in the mood to sew and I was on a high from the patio set sucess!).

Any how. I just knew our retired Stampin’ Up! fabric that I had would be perfect for this little purse. So here is the finished project. I lined it in the Rich Razzleberry pattern so it won’t show the dirt.

Cute? Not perfect, but all the same I’m going to enjoy using it. The Floral District Designer Series Paper was one of my favorites (not that I’m hording any….shhh don’t tell but it’s sitting right there with my Tea Party Designer Series Paper that I’m saving for a special project!)

Well the machine has been put away for now so the classroom is fully operational again!

Framelits & Thinlits Organization 101

I love keeping my Framelit dies in easy to open clear mount cases and so I thought I’d share with you the new labels I created for the NEW 2016 Annual Catalog.

It’s always fun to freshen up my crafting space and these new inserts are colorful in addition to having the picture on the front so you know exactly where that framelit came from! (Something my old Framelit inserts didn’t have.)

Here is what the case looks like on the inside.

What’s that black sheet? Well believe it or not it is a Magnetic Vent Cover that I find in my local Building Supply big box store. They are inexpensive and work great for this.

I simply cut them with my trimmer and add a little of our Tear & Tape to the back and press. (They come in large 8 x 15 sheets so you can get several cases for your Framelits out of a package when you cut them to fit.) Perfect for holding those Framelits!

New 2016 Annual Catalog Organization 101

Ok you’ve seen the NEW 2016-2017 Catalog now and you’re wondering how to organize your craft area, right? Well I’ve got some wonderful items to help make this easier for you.

First I’ve created a quick reference for the Designer Series Paper. I like this chart and keep it handy when I’m looking for the colors in the Designer Series Paper. Everything you need is on this one easy chart.

2016-2017 Catalog Designer Series Paper Chart PDF

Labels – I love labels and these make things so easy. I like to have everything consistent so with the NEW 2016-2017 Catalog. I have created new labels for my hanging file folders, Refill drawers, and my Classic Ink Pads.

I know that the Classic Ink Pads come with these great labels stuck to the bottom for us to use (which I love), but I like to also know the Color Collection so I still these in addition to the ones already included.

I punch these out with my now retired Word Window Punch, but if you don’t have that you can use the NEW Classic Label Punch (141491) found in the 2016 Annual Catalog on page 186.

And for your Card Stock I’ve created these labels. I use them on my hanging file folders in my drawers.

What is a paper share?

A paper share is a group of people sharing a group of items – this time Designer Series Paper.

Here is how it works. The share gives you a piece of all the patterns of 14 packages of DSP in the 2016 Catalog on pages 172, 173, &174 (everything except the 2015 In Colors, Brights, Regals, Subtles and Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stacks since these are returning patterns.)

What will I get? This Share includes the following:

Pop of Pink and Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Papers: 6×12 of 5 double sided patterns and 6×6 of 2 single sided patterns from each pack

Irresistibly Floral and This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper, Floral Boutique, Moroccan, Fruit Stand, Blooms & Bliss, Festive Birthday, and By the Shore Designer Series Paper: 6 x 12 of 6 double sided patterns from each pack

A Little Foxy, Serene Scenery, Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stacks: 6×6 of 12 double sided patterns from each pack

Spring Retreat Fun!

A day crafting with others is always fun! And it’s even more fun when you are being pampered, right? Earlier this month I held my first Blue Mountain Day Retreat and I think everyone who attended enjoyed it. We stamped, laughed, and shared!

So today I thought I’d share some of the pictures I took before the retreat. At least I remembered to do that – sorry, I forgot to snap some pics during the retreat, wouldn’t you know.

Here are the tables set up and ready to go, everyone had a 6 foot table of their own.

And of course, my corner store which included finished items and cards, along with Paper Pumpkin and other kits and even items to decorate, retired cards stock, ribbon and other accessories for those who had forgotten something or just wanted a little extra something for their project. Everyone had access to all my stamp sets and Big Shot items since they were available for use during the Retreat!

“Goodie Bags” were waiting for everyone at their seats along with their name tag.

Their Make n Take packets in addition to the goodies were used to complete their 4 projects that day with lots left over so they could make more with the instructions they got!

I made these cute little pencil holders up for everyone using the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (140557) and Suite Sayings stamp set (140709/140712).

And here are a couple of the pillow gifts they received that day. First is a memo pad.

I love the way this turned out using the Picture Perfect stamp set (140520). I knew when I saw it, the stamp set was perfect for these little memo pads I found a while back!

I used Rose Red and Blushing Bride Classic Ink to create this wonderful cabbage rose from the set – and since the set was photopolymer it was easy to line up the 3 different images that make up this flower.

Notice the Blushing Bride polka dot pattern? It’s from out Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper Stack (138437) so you can make a bunch of these memo holders up!

And here is a cute little kiss holder I made using the Tin of Cards stamp set (138946) and the Love Blossom Designer Series Paper Stack (140548).

Here is a photo of all the pillow gifts and goodies I made for the day retreat.

And since everyone asked for the soup recipe I made for lunch, I thought I’d share it with you today too. I think it’s yummy and soooo easy to make.

Joy’s Easy White Chili

2 T. bacon drippings

1 medium Onion, chopped

1 (4oz.) can chopped green chilies

2 tsp. garlic powder

2 tap. Salt

2 tsp. ground cumin

2 tsp. dried oregano

2 tsp. ground coriander

½ tsp. cayenne pepper

3 (15 oz) cans Luck’s Great Northern Beans, un-drained

2 (14 ½ oz.) cans Swanson Chicken Broth

3 (10oz) cans Hormel Premium Chicken Brest, drained

8 oz. extra sharp Cheddar Cheese or more to taste

Brown onion in bacon drippings. Add all ingredients to a large pot and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Or for a Crock pot, Cook on high 2-4 hours.Serve with corn chips.

Botanical Blooms Wine Charms & NEW Weekly Deals

Do you enjoy using your stamping supplies in different ways? One of the things I love the most about crafting is the versatility it gives us. And Stampin’ Up! makes this easy with all the different choices we have.

Today’s project is a little wine charm that I made with the Botanical Blooms Bundle (140625). When I saw this stamp set and it’s Framelits Dies I knew it would be a lot of fun to play with!

I made these little wine charms for my Team members as a little surprise during our Winter Retreat. Everyone who attended our Team Retreat got to choose one in the color they liked. While all the flowers were the same I used different beads to set them apart and add another pop of color to them to them.

Retreats are part of the fun of being a Blue Mountain Stamper – we do them 3 times a year and enjoy the fellowship and time away from our daily responsibilities. After all who doesn’t like 3 days of uninterrupted stamp time? It’s a very laid back weekend, sleep when you please or not at all. LOL!

We also hold a Shoebox Swap as part of the weekend fun – those that can’t come for the weekend craft for the day or just come for the swap.

It’s a lot of fun to see what everyone created to share and it’s a great way to learn new things and try new products too. Here’s Cindy taking a few minutes to explain her shoebox.

It’s a Joyful Season

Merry Christmas to you from our family to yours! I hope that you are having a safe, warm, peaceful holiday season with your family and friends.

My husband Larry is on call this weekend but we are enjoying quiet time together today as a family in between calls while he is home. As you know we’ve have two young adults who have busy lives too, so this time together is especially sweet.

A Visit from Santa

I love pampering my Team, the Blue Mountain Stampers and this past Tuesday when we gathered together for our Annual Christmas party that’s just what I tried to do.

We gathered together for fun, fellowship and of course a bit of stamping! Everyone brought a dish and we enjoyed a wonderful turkey dinner together with all the trimmings. (I love this part of the evening since it is a lot of fun trying new dishes and enjoying each others.)

Santa made an appearance too!

Notice even our dog, Chewie was in the spirit!

After we retreated to the classroom and enjoyed some stamping together. And for those that were unable to attend On Stage in Tampa with me, I wanted to create a little mini On Stage event for them.

And of course that box is filled with our NEW products! So everyone had a chance to see the NEW accessories and Designer Series Papers and stamp with some of the new products from the upcoming 2016 Occasions and Sale-a-bration Catalogs!

And what party would be complete without gifts? Everyone was greeted with this a couple of little goodies when they got to their seats. One had to be chocolate, right?

I love these little boxes that I created using the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (139592) and the Bow Builder Punch (137414). I think they turned out really cute.

And what do they contain? Well…….

A Bone Folder for everyone that has been decorated with a charm. I made each Bone Folder Charm with our Winter Wonderland Embellishments (139621) along with different beading so we can tell them apart when we stamp together. LOL! (Of course, they have some blue since we’re the Blue Mountain Stampers.) I made these to coordinate with their scissor charms that they received earlier this year. (Want to see the scissor charms? The Clothespin Santa Hat is sooooo easy to make!

Here’s how:

Punch out a Tree using the Red Glimmer Paper and clip off the trunk. Using the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper punch out a circle and Word Window. Attach to the tree piece. After it dries attach the hat to the Clothespin.

That’s it – quick and easy!!! But I warn you, these are so cute you’ll want to make lots of these! LOL
