Fun Shutter Card for Valentine’s Day

Today’s card is a Shutter Card. Have you made one of these cards before? They look difficult but really aren’t. With just a few strips of paper you create a fun look.

Check out today’s card that uses this fun technique

along with the Hope Love & Joy stamp set (166855) that has been used to create a card filled with love.

This set allows you to build words the way you’d like. Today’s card uses the heart and pull the “you” from another set such as Reason to Celebrate (166905). A bit of fussy cutting allows you to add it t to complete the message.

Team it up with your favorite paper like this card does. The Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper (165175) has such beautiful floral images and the colors are perfect for this Valentine’s Day card.

Now, want to know how that fun shutter look is created? Simply stamp your sentiment onto your card stock the size you’d like and adhere it down onto the larger panel. Then use your strips on each side of the sentiment panel, starting at the left edge and running off the edge. Repeat on the next side moving clock wise until all four sides are finished. (The floral Designer Series Paper is really just one larger piece although it doesn’t look like it when you’re done.) Voila!

If you’d like to see my Card that I created and shared with you using the technique why not check out my tutorial HERE? It even includes a video for you.

Enjoy!

Hugs & Kisses for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day fun has been built right into our Made with Love Suite (167079) and the fun Made with Love Designer Series Paper (167054) that is filled with traditional Valentine’s Day colors and patterns.

Great patterns for mixing and matching when creating. Check out today’s card with a simple layout that highlights these papers.

A simple mat of Real Read on a Bubble Bath card base sets the color scheme. Simple stamping, a bit of die cutting, and some fun accessories. You’ll love the fun little pieces found in the Loose Valentine’s Assortment (167074) they are simply adorable for adding onto projects or creating a shaker card. The 1/8″ Bubble Bath Faux Linen Ribbon (167075) adds some texture without a lot of bulk which is why I just love this width of ribbon that can be used for so many things easily and linen ribbon just ties so nicely too.

If you haven’t checked these products out yet, why not stop by my Online store today? And remember if the Suite is on backorder you can still get individual items separately or asked to be notified when they return.

Endless Love

Today’s card uses a fun embossing folder technique using the Hearts of Love 3D Embossing Folder (167071) and Endless Love Bundle (167062) both of which can be found in the Made with Love Suite (167079).

Check it out – notice the background of this card? It’s actually dry embossed and the embossed areas have had color added to them to make it “pop”. Then a bit of color was added with a Blending Brush to add a bit more impact and ground the hearts.

Done in Real Red, Bubble Bath and Pool Party, it pulls the color inspiration straight from the Designer Series Paper found in the Suite. And you’ll love the fun little 1/8″ Bubble Bath Faux Linen Ribbon (167075) that is so easy to tie and great for all kinds of projects.

How is this technique done? It’s so simple to do. You’ll simply apply ink to the raised “positive” embossed side with a brayer, add the card stock, and run thru your Stampin’ Cut and Emboss like normal. And Voila! Think of a letterpress. Want color on the negative area? Simply add color to the other half of your folder and you’ll get a totally different look.

I love this simple technique for creating backgrounds that pop. How about you? Why not give it a try with your favorite folder?

Enjoy!

Made with Love Book Binding Card

I didn’t have time this week to get a tutorial to share with you after returning from our last minute trip and then storm preperation but I do have a fun fold card to share with you from my recent swap.

So today’s card uses the Book Binding Fun Fold to create a colorful little Valentine for that someone special. The card uses the Made with Love Suite (167079) that is filled with all kinds of goodies for this special day.

Check out today’s card using these traditional Valentine colors and products.

The fun little Loose Valentine’s Assortment (167074) and Real Red & White Baker’s Twine (164051) along with the die cut pieces and heat embossing add some texture to the card.

This cute little Book Binding Card is created by simply scoring the 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card base at 4 1/4″ and then again at 5 3/8″. The 1 1/8″ section is then adhered down to the inside of the card and decorated as desired. When opened you’ll have a smaller 5 1/8″ x 3″ section to place your signature panel. That’s it. Soooo simple!

Why not try a Book Binding Card today? They are so easy to do and add a little fun to your card too!

Prayers & Promises

As the cold winter weather moves in to our area this weekend I think of the birds and filling my feeders for them, so today’s card seemed like a good one to share with you.

Today’s card uses the lovely Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper (164183). This package of paper is filled will lovely birds and natural images you’ll find in winter.

And it makes a perfect back drop for today’s sentiment found in the Prayers & Promises stamp set (167014).

And with Valentine’s Day around the corner this sentiment can be used for that too. I love sets I can use for multiple things, how about you?

Here is the card

Quick and simple the card lets the paper do the heavy lifting and a few of the Moody Palette Glossy Dots (Online Exclusives 167180) add a bit of shine and texture to the card. So what do you think? Do you love quick and easy cards like this?

On a personal note I hope everyone will stay safe and warm this weekend as this extreme cold and snow and ice event effects a large portion of the country.

Thoughtful Journey Torn Edge Card

It’s that time of year to look back at 2025 and say goodbye. When I was a teenager one of my favorite things was listening to the countdown on the radio of the years hits. Now I watch the year in review on the news – It reminds me of many things I’ve already forgotten as the year seems to fly by.

So this week I thought I’d share a look back with you, some “silver & gold” from my craft room – this childhood song is about making friends. I’ve always like the meaning of the friendship song of making new friends and keeping the old – “some are silver and the others gold”. How about you?

Today’s card uses a quick and easy torn edge technique and since the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (163303) is beautiful landscape designs it’s perfect for this card.

I’ve teamed this paper up with the retired Thoughtful Wishes Stamp set and Dies which are retired. You might already have this on your shelves, if not you can use another sentiment set that you love.

Here is my video tutorial and PDF for you – the PDF includes a complete supply list and measurements.

More Snowflake Kisses

Snowflakes… a weather wonder with their different shapes and sizes as they fall from the sky. I can remember the joy the first snowfall created as a child and later the hope for a snow day with my children and a chance to build a snowman.

Today’s card teams up the lovely Snowflake Kisses Bundle (Online Exclusive 166023)

with the Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper (Online Exclusive 166066). I fell in love with the paper the first time I saw it and it’s non traditional “snow” colors.

This card while shows off snowflakes is a wonderful card to send someone you love.

And the sentiments easily can be used through out the winter and for Valentine’s Day too making it a great choice for your crafting needs.

This card is also a fun fold that is easy to create. The base is your typical 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ that is scored in half. Then you simply cut slits on each side of the card front at the 1″ mark from the edge down to the center score line. Adhere those two flaps to the card base and decorate.

The center flap opens and allows for an inside panel and the Real Red Shiny Ribbon (Last Chance 165876) to be wrapped around the center panel and tied.

A quick and easy fun fold that packs a wow.
