Fun Shutter Card for Valentine’s Day

Today’s card is a Shutter Card. Have you made one of these cards before? They look difficult but really aren’t. With just a few strips of paper you create a fun look.

Check out today’s card that uses this fun technique

along with the Hope Love & Joy stamp set (166855) that has been used to create a card filled with love.

This set allows you to build words the way you’d like. Today’s card uses the heart and pull the “you” from another set such as Reason to Celebrate (166905). A bit of fussy cutting allows you to add it t to complete the message.

Team it up with your favorite paper like this card does. The Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper (165175) has such beautiful floral images and the colors are perfect for this Valentine’s Day card.

Now, want to know how that fun shutter look is created? Simply stamp your sentiment onto your card stock the size you’d like and adhere it down onto the larger panel. Then use your strips on each side of the sentiment panel, starting at the left edge and running off the edge. Repeat on the next side moving clock wise until all four sides are finished. (The floral Designer Series Paper is really just one larger piece although it doesn’t look like it when you’re done.) Voila!

If you’d like to see my Card that I created and shared with you using the technique why not check out my tutorial HERE? It even includes a video for you.

Enjoy!

Endless Love

Today’s card uses a fun embossing folder technique using the Hearts of Love 3D Embossing Folder (167071) and Endless Love Bundle (167062) both of which can be found in the Made with Love Suite (167079).

Check it out – notice the background of this card? It’s actually dry embossed and the embossed areas have had color added to them to make it “pop”. Then a bit of color was added with a Blending Brush to add a bit more impact and ground the hearts.

Done in Real Red, Bubble Bath and Pool Party, it pulls the color inspiration straight from the Designer Series Paper found in the Suite. And you’ll love the fun little 1/8″ Bubble Bath Faux Linen Ribbon (167075) that is so easy to tie and great for all kinds of projects.

How is this technique done? It’s so simple to do. You’ll simply apply ink to the raised “positive” embossed side with a brayer, add the card stock, and run thru your Stampin’ Cut and Emboss like normal. And Voila! Think of a letterpress. Want color on the negative area? Simply add color to the other half of your folder and you’ll get a totally different look.

I love this simple technique for creating backgrounds that pop. How about you? Why not give it a try with your favorite folder?

Enjoy!

Thoughtful Journey Double Gate Fold Card

Inspiring hope and having a bit of faith, today’s card wraps those things up in a Double Gate Fold card. The beautiful colors and serene scenes that the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (163303) include are perfect for a card like this I think.

You can see the full card inside and out in my video tutorial today, so why not take a few minutes to check it out. While the sentiments this card uses is the something old, the beautiful scenes are the something new so you can still create this project using your favorite sentiment set if you done have the retired Unbounded Love stamp set.

Thoughtful Journey Torn Edge Card

It’s that time of year to look back at 2025 and say goodbye. When I was a teenager one of my favorite things was listening to the countdown on the radio of the years hits. Now I watch the year in review on the news – It reminds me of many things I’ve already forgotten as the year seems to fly by.

So this week I thought I’d share a look back with you, some “silver & gold” from my craft room – this childhood song is about making friends. I’ve always like the meaning of the friendship song of making new friends and keeping the old – “some are silver and the others gold”. How about you?

Today’s card uses a quick and easy torn edge technique and since the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (163303) is beautiful landscape designs it’s perfect for this card.

I’ve teamed this paper up with the retired Thoughtful Wishes Stamp set and Dies which are retired. You might already have this on your shelves, if not you can use another sentiment set that you love.

Here is my video tutorial and PDF for you – the PDF includes a complete supply list and measurements.

Lights & Wonder

Lights in the Sky, the magical Northern Lights have been seen recently as far as North Georgia where I live. Something I thought I’d never get to experience unless I went to Alaska, now I can’t wait to see them in all their glory next year!

The Lights of Aurora Suite (Last Chance 165758) has a wonderful pack of 6×6 Designer Series Paper in it

called the Lights of Aurora 6×6 Designer Series Paper (165755) that is filled with images of the northern lights that is perfect for your projects.

Today’s card uses that Designer Series Paper and teams it up with the Peace on Earth Stamp set (Last Chance 165918) to make a wonderful card of encouragement for a friend.

This card not only shows off this beautiful paper but is also a fun fold, called the Fold Back Card. You open the card by folding back the right edge, which allows the sentiment to swing back and the card to open.

The inside shows off more of the lovely paper. This card uses one full sheet of the 6×6 since the two larger panels are 3″ x 5 1/4″ and the small panel is the last little bit from the top 3/4″ “waste” piece and measures 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.

How do you make this fun fold? It’s so simple, simply score your 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base in the center like normal at the 4 1/4″ mark and then score again at the 7 1/2″. Decorate the panels as desired and then add the sentiment (or another element) that creates the closure. You’ll want to pop this element up on the 1″ section only to create a bit of height so it swings easily. That’s it! So simple but definitely a wow kind of card. Why not give it a try?

Gingerbread Man

Run, Run as fast as you can…. Does this stamp set make you think of that childhood rhyme? Funny it made me think of it when I first saw the Gingerbread Man Bundle (165785)

And this cute little guy is great for those fun holiday projects with it’s option of creating gingerbread man shaped cards and gift tags, or even a treat item.

Today’s card both use this Bundle, this first card is simple stamping and die cutting.

Done in fun bright colors, Melon Mambo, Timid Tiger, and Summer Splash. The gingerbread man was cut out in Pecan Pie and stamped using our White Craft Ink (147277) and Memento Tuxedo Black (132708/133456). The sentiment is stamped in Real Red. These colors are pulled from the package of the Delightful Decorative Dots (165915) that embellish the gingerbread man.

This next card uses the classic colors Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler and steps it up with the white trim on the gingerbread man being heat embossed with our white embossing powder found in the Basics Wow! Embossing Powder (165679).

A bit of the same craft white ink has been swiped across the Christmas Words Collage Hybrid Embossing Folder & Dies (165912) to highlight the words in the background. And the front of the card opens

to show off a sentiment and allows you to sign. Want more space? instead of a embossed quarter sheet of card stock, you could add this little guy to a full card base and add an inside panel. Don’t you love the flexibility we have when we create to make it our own?

And don’t forget tomorrow kicks off our Black Friday sale – be sure to stop by and check it out!
